From the moment we walked into the reception until the time we checked out, the service was faultless.  The reception team (every one of them) went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was memorable. The room was quaint and in keeping with the city’s atmosphere. The rooftop bar was an added bonus. The very central location was perfect. If we return to Florence, we will definitely return to this hotel.

Hotel Calimala is a tricky one to rate because our experience was truly mixed.

Our initial room, in the "superior" category, was anything but superior. It was tiny, had no natural light, and lacked basic comforts like a chair. It felt claustrophobic—definitely not the experience we were expecting.

Thankfully, by paying extra, we upgraded to an "executive" room, which felt like a completely different hotel. The room was spacious and beautiful, with a lovely view. It was everything we had hoped for—and more.

If the hotel were more transparent with its room categories, this would have been an easy 5-star review. It’s clear that some rooms in the "superior" category don’t belong there. If our first room had been labeled "basic" or "simple," our expectations would have been better managed, and we wouldn’t have been so disappointed.

That said, the hotel overall is wonderful. The location is fantastic, the staff are super friendly, and we’ll definitely be back. Next time, though, we’ll pay close attention to the room category when booking—and we hope the hotel reconsiders how they label their rooms in the future!

Hands down the best place we stayed while traveling through Italy. The staff was incredibly friendly and very accommodating. We felt very welcomed upon our initial arrival as well as every time we returned for the evening.

The rooms were clean and well kept and the complimentary espresso was lovely.

We frequented the Angel restaurant and rooftop terrace which had beautiful views of the city especially at sunset. The drinks were delicious.

We got the self serve breakfast every morning on the rooftop and there was a decent selection of various breakfast items including eggs, bacon, pancakes, quiche, fruit, yogurt, various meats and cheeses, etc. The coffee was delicious and delivered straight to our table.

We will definitely be back.

The hotel has an amazing location, right in the heart of the city. The staff is incredibly polite, friendly, and welcoming, making the stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day. I highly recommend this hotel!

Hotel Calimala is the best choice for Florence. The hotel is perfectly located, making everything easily walkable. This was important for us because I had just had ankle surgery in November and I had no problems. Location is just the tip of the iceberg though- the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and the rooms themselves are gorgeous. I felt like I was living like a Medicci!
