Florence's main hustle and bustle is just a short walk from L'Ortone. The restaurant was recommended in the  Michelin Guide You get a sense of confidence when you arrive that good food will be served. We were surprised by how busy the restaurant was considering we went for early lunch without reservations.

We shared a delightful tuna tartare which set us up for the mains. My miso and honey lacquered duck breast was juicy and light, perfect for lunch. My wife had the braised beef cheek, which was rich and flavorful, but the additional roasted potatoes added a little texture.

Staff were friendly and we had a great waitress.

The restaurant is very reasonably priced considering how nice the food was.

Definitely worth the short walk from central Florence, I highly recommend this restaurant.

Of the many restaurants that we've been to during our time in Florence, this ranks high up on the list. If not the top, this will be a definite top 3. They're deserving of their Michelin Bib Gourmand title.

For the price point, they do a good Tuscan food rendition; not too traditional unlike the Il Latini of the city, neither does it feel like a Frankenstein.

We had the following items:
1. Fried anchovies with lemon salt, yogurt cream and mashed fresh tomatoes
2. Boiled beef meatballs, roasted pepper cream and florentine green sauce
3. Wheat germ linguine with leek cream, raw Mediterranean red prawns and herring caviar
4. Tuna steak, sautéed chicory greens, pistachio pesto sauce and sweet and sour red onions

Items were generally beyond good, with appropriate flavors and umami found within the dishes. The pastas were an absolute joy. Washed it down with 2 different red wines recommended by the patient server. Paid about 100EUR for the both of us.

Lastly, given the common commentary by many others - if you are willing to pay a little more, try to stick with only Michelin recommended restaurants while in Florence. This is one of the better ones.

Must visit this restaurant in Florence. Nice food, atmosphere and service in a fair price. Everything we eat was very tasteful! Very well done to the restaurant team.

Excellent tuna, we were also surprised with pigeon risotto - highly recommend you to try if you want to discover something new. Quite popular place so it’s better to book a table in advance.

It was one of the best Italian restaurants that I have been to. it's not because of the Michelin Star, It's because the dishes are new and fresh, which makes you want more from every dish. Loved it.

I would have given 5 stars for food  if the steak was taster. It was good but their seafood was better....get the octopus!
