Needs to be booked beforehand. You can stay 1.30 hours at the top but indefinitely at the Pavilion.

What a fantastic experience on the Skyway from Courmayeur to Monte Bianco. It is worth every Euro not only for the experience but also to appreciate the feat of engineering to construct this. This was our second visit in a week. First time to the first station and lunch in the restaurant to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. The second visit was on the spur of the moment as the weather was clear. We decided to go all the way over to Aiguille du Midi. This is where the journey can be continued down to Chamonix. Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to go down into France as journey times are lengthy. We came at the end of September and didn’t book but would say it is essential during main holiday season.   There was a marked difference between the Italian side and the French. The Italian stations at Pavillon and Punta Helbronner are spotless with lovely clean facilities and flushing toilets, no so at Aiguille where the toilets were chemical and the smell and acid in the atmosphere was horrendous. There is a restaurant but needs booking, otherwise there is a snack bar. Views are fantastic when clear. I would thoroughly recommend the trip from either end.

Modern fast, having done the French and the Italian side, this one is a bit better, more modern and the Two stations are great, especially the middle one. Food is good, not that expensive.

The Skyway is a wonderful experience! It's made up of two ultramodern cable cars, overall climbing from the level of 1300 m at the ground station, up to around 3500 m of the Helbronner Peak, at the top, with an intermediate station at around 2200 m. The original idea was born in the '30s of the 20th century, then it was delivered in the '50s. Since 2011 the nowadays plant was built, with a totally refurbished and modernized, highly technological approach.
