Most restaurants offer pretty much the same food in Venice. And whilst Castello has some familiar things on the menu it's a bit quirky and the food is a much higher standard for not that much more. We had hummus/prawns and caprese to start, gnocchi with cuttlefish and ink and tagliatelle with scallops for first course. Shared a tiramisu with some desert wine (which they very kindly gave us for free!). Best meal we had in Venice.

A bit pricy for us, but it was OK with such an atmosphere. Great food as well. We love the flavour of the cod starter — the cod itself was a bit salty, but it tasted very good when mixed with others. The prawns in the risotto were the best in our whole lunch. The risotto itself was a bit hard (like typical Italian style), but in terms of its flavour, the dish was great overall.

We found this place on Michelin Guide and then looked through the menu online and noticed some really interesting dishes that caught our eye. Service was incredibly attentive. We never once had to pour our own glass and each time I got up, my napkin was folded. We came to Venice, during the off season, so there weren’t many people in the restaurant and I do enjoy a full bustling restaurant. However, considering the food quality service quality, this was no deterrent for us this time. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the food speaks for itself! I apologize for uploading partial photos of my meal, but I didn’t think to photograph them until I was halfway through each dish because they were just that good 😂. We started with the Caprese salad served as a stuffed tomato. One of the most interesting presentations of the Caprese say we’ve ever had. Then we continued with. The Gnocchi Cacio E Pepe with squid in black ink sauce, absolutely astounding! We got the Tagliatelle with Scallops in a pesto pistachio sauce - wow! And then we finished with Cappucino di patate cuttlefish- so unique 👌🏻. And landed with the Tuna steak. I’m writing this review a couple days later and I think we’re still full for this meal 😂

We did not do dessert but this meal was one for the memory books! I could not recommend this place more highly definitely give it a try. We also highly recommend a reservation, I’m sure this place is booked solid during the peak seasons.

We ate here on our last night in Venice and WOW, what an unforgettable experience. It was the perfect way to end our trip to this magical city.

We shared the tuna mille-feuille which was absolutely delicious, perfectly prepared and bursting with flavour.

My husband had the octopus and once again, amazingly prepared and amazingly delicious.

I had the gnocchis with squids in black ink which was also amazingly delicious. I couldn't come to Venice without trying a squid ink dish.

We shared the Tiramisu and again I have to say WOW, it was the best I have ever had. You have not truly tasted Tiramisu until you have it here.

This restaurant is small and quaint and the staff is attentive and friendly.

If and when we find ourselves in Venice again, we will return to this restaurant for one of our dinners.

Very nice place. Accommodating. Pleasant staff. Best meal I had in Venice. Flavored excellent, since many places in Venice under salt dishes; not the case here. Perfect spinach ravioli in red sauce.
