Wish we had time to visit the cemetery but it looked like a beautiful resting place as we passed it by boat from Venice back to our hotel in Murano.

The church and bell tower of the cemetery is lovely.

You can see so many families that were wealthy and great that assured prosperity to many others around them. First we visited this  cemetery and then Murano. Would be interesting to be able to connect the famous families to the house or villas they lived in by a simple little memory.

Many famous people are buried here including Igor Stravinsky (1882-1971), his second wife Vera de Bosset Stravinsky (1889-1982), and Serge Diaghilev (1872-1929), the famous ballet impresario and founder of the Ballets Russes who worked with Stravinsky, Picasso, and many other famous artists. Don't miss the new extension of the cemetery designed by David Chipperfield (born 1953). The cloisters near the entrance of the cemetery are also quite nice.
