I wish I could give 6 stars! This dining experience exceeded our expectations. The restaurant was recommended by our canal cruise captain - Captain Dave. He jokingly said that we wouldn't be able to focus on our food because we would be looking around at the exquisite atmosphere. He was right except for one thing - the food was wonderful, and worth paying attention to! So we got great food and a delightful atmosphere. The building dates from the 1600's - dark wood and leather wall coverings, heavy beams on the ceilings. And every room is different. It felt like a castle. I was in heaven. Our server, who was also the bartender, was knowledgeable as well as friendly and fun. She knew the food and wine inside out and made terrific recommendations. We look forward to going back when/if we return to Amsterdam! I highly recommend making a special night of it - this place is worth it!

I dined here with colleagues from North America, Scandinavia and The Netherlands. We all loved it. The food met our varied palette's high expectations. The service was detailed and theatrical in all the right ways. You are - served - a meal. The atmosphere is exactly as advertised: a culinary museum. Coming to Amsterdam with 5 star expectations and the credit rating to fund it? Dine at 5 Flies.

The most amazing meal we had in amsterdam. Staff was friendly and informative. The 5 course chef tasting menu was out of this world.

A bit overrated to be honest. Waiter was amazing, but at the same time food took forever to start, the dishes were not extraordinary to justify their price imo.
The soup was amazing (too good that ate before taking a picture lol, but main and dessert was ok. Nice atmosphere and decour.

If you want a delightful, traditional Dutch meal, come here! I ordered the 5-course meal with a wine tasting and it was just fabulous. The cheese selection at the end was well done and delicious. I loved reading about the cheeses. My server was always available and did a great job checking in and asking how the food was. You can tell that the staff is very passionate for the restaurant. Highly recommend! This restaurant could also accommodate a large group. Kid friendly as well.
