I stayed at the Hoxton for six nights, so I can say that I got really familiar with the hotel. I stayed in a “cozy canal view” room.

Pros:
1. LOCATION- so many cute shops and restaurants within walking distance. Would 100% stay here again just for this.
2. Housekeeping - did a great job at maintaining my room and helping with special requests.
3. Overall aesthetic and vibe of the hotel, felt trendy and cool. Many locals work there during the day.

CONS:
1. Bed- overused and should be updated. Two huge dips in it. Paying way too much to sleep on an old bed (other reviewers have stated this).
2. Front desk staff needs some training. They stare at their computer screens and avoid making eye contact or saying hello when you walk in to the hotel. Acknowledgement for a guest who is there all week would be a nice touch. I had also requested an early check-in and was never called when the room was actually ready. It had been a long traveling day and I was waiting for this.

Overall, enjoyed my stay and the cons are things that can easily be fixed. It was a beautiful hotel and I would stay there again!

This is our go to location for coffee and a nice cozy sit down in Amsterdam but what really keeps us coming back is the staff & friendly service. Leonor & Lourens always greet us with a smile and have given us plenty of good recommendations on what to order or what’s new on the menu. Everyone’s super kind which makes us feel right at home whenever we step in for a bite or coffee, would definitely recommend!

My partner and I stayed at The Hoxton Amsterdam for three nights in December 2024. It is a beautiful hotel in a great location, and I want to share some pros and cons of my experience in case it helps inform your stay in Amsterdam.

Pros:

1. Friendly and hospitable staff. The staff were incredibly nice and offered great restaurant recommendations nearby.

2. Comfy bed. The bed and bedding were luxurious and felt wonderful.

3. Food. Everything we ordered at the hotel restaurant, Lotti’s, was delicious.

Cons:

1. Little bathroom privacy. While the bathroom itself is great with a beautiful  shower you never want to leave, the bathroom door is a terrible choice for anyone sharing the hotel room with another person. The bathroom door directly faces the bed and is made of a sheer foggy glass that shows the outline of the person inside. The toilet is directly behind the door, meaning the person sitting in the hotel room can view every movement the person on the toilet makes. It is baffling that some hotels think bathroom privacy is something guests are willing to compromise on.

2. Room service/cleaning. If a specific action is required to receive cleaning service, guests should be made aware of that when they check in. Nothing was mentioned to us and we were surprised when we arrived back later in the day and noticed the room had not been cleaned (we don’t mind not having our bed or towels refreshed, but we had an empty bottle of wine and dirty drink glasses that were crowding the one small table in the room that we wished had been taken, and we would have liked the complimentary water in our mini fridge to be replaced.) Another couple traveling with us requested additional towels at the front desk and were told some would be placed in their room. When they arrived back that evening, no towel had arrived and their room was also not cleaned that day. We left the “please come in” sign on our door the next day.

3. Excruciatingly slow and unfocused service. While slow service is something to expect in Europe, be prepared to wait 25 minutes for your drink order when you take a seat in the lounge. Even if you choose to order at the bar to speed things up, they tell you to sit back down and they’ll bring you your drink. One time mine never came. Almost 10 minutes after I asked a staff member to kindly check on it for me, I had to get up and let them know I needed to leave. At breakfast, our coffee orders were mixed up with another table’s both days.

If none of the cons I listed are important to you, this hotel is a great stay. In my opinion, this hotel is best suited for young professionals traveling solo on business. Feels worth the price only if you’re not the one paying.

First class location, spacious rooms, good products, but like many, no wardrobe. Just a small space to put everything. It is not understandable that the change of clothes on the beds is left in the Hotel hallway for days. It is not welcome in a hotel that presents itself as 5 stars. The days we were there, it was very noisy because there were many private celebrations so we could not use the restaurant. They gave you the option on a mezzanine to eat some dishes. But not what you should expect and offer. Very loud music in the reception all the time. If you like a party hotel, always active and without pause, with fast service and nothing special, then this is your hotel.

Great hotel with a special cool vibe, nice design in  a perfect location. Loved the comfy and spacious room (nice touch with coffee and fresh (!) milk in the room) the atmosphere, friendly staff and above all the location - ideal starting point for sightseeing, shopping and walks but also great to relax with  a coffee or drink after a long day exploring the city. We all would love to come back 😁
