Beautiful hotel with amazing staff. Rooms are generous and well appointed. Soft towels and you can select you pillow from the in room menu. The lobby has old world charm while the rooms are modern and comfortable. The shower was amazing. The hotel breakfast is substantial as a buffet with the option of special order omelets and other egg dishes. Just along the Amstel so the view out the front is amazing. The staff know it’s  5 star hotel and provide 5 star service.

From start to finish this hotel has made my first international trip more than I could’ve asked for. I’m writing this from the hotel room because they’ve made the stay super enjoyable. The hotel is spotless, service is immensely impressive, I didn’t try the restaurant but it was packed every night with hotel patrons, the bar staff was delightful, knowledgeable about the area, and made the drinks strong. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to experience luxury on their stay to Amsterdam.

This hotel's location is unbeatable, right in the heart of the city.  The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable.  From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed and cared for.  Every detail was perfect, making it a truly luxurious experience. We can't wait to return to this amazing hotel!

I recently stayed at the Pestana Riverside in Amsterdam and had a pleasant experience overall. The hotel is located a 20-minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station, with a tram nearby that shortens the journey, which is convenient for exploring the city.

The hotel has a contemporary design throughout, with a spacious room featuring a super king-size bed, a sofa, and large floor-to-ceiling windows. The black-out curtains were a great touch for ensuring a restful night’s sleep. The bathroom was impressive, with a huge walk-in shower and a full range of toiletries provided. They also offer comfortable slippers and a gown, adding a nice touch to the overall comfort.

The wellness centre was a highlight, with a good-sized pool, sauna, and steam room, although there were only a few loungers available. Still, it provided a nice opportunity to relax.

Breakfast was definitely worth the €30 per person charge. The buffet was extensive, with a selection of juices, fresh fruit, cold meats and cheese, cereals, and a hot breakfast station. The highlight was the made-to-order eggs, and the coffee was excellent.

Disappointing and Lacking Professionalism

We arrived late at night and were welcomed by a young man who seemed competent, but this turned out not to be the case. Upon arrival, he charged us €33 per room, totaling €100, for “city taxes” without informing us beforehand or explaining what it was for. Moreover, we did not receive a receipt, even though one was printed—the agent immediately took it back.
The agent assured us that no further fees would be required. While the service was pleasant and the hotel was clean and well-maintained, the problem arose at check-out when we were informed that additional taxes were due, and there was no record of the €100 city tax payment made upon arrival. We also paid a €200 deposit for the rooms, which was not accounted for either. €90 was charged, plus €19 per room.

We tried to explain the situation, but communication was difficult as English did not seem to be the Dutch staff’s strength.
In summary, we paid:
•	€110 for parking per car (2 cars)
•	€90 for city taxes for 3 rooms at check-in, plus €19 per room at check-out
•	€200 as a deposit for the rooms

Eventually, the hotel apologized, explaining that the agent at check-in had not handled things correctly, which complicated the situation and transactions. We fully understand the need to pay all necessary fees, but what disappointed us was the lack of transparency and clarity during check-in when we expected to pay all charges upfront.

Although the service was generally satisfactory and the hotel pleasant, this poor management and lack of professionalism lead us not to recommend this hotel. In our opinion, a change in competent staff would be necessary to avoid such mishaps.
