The experience at Shelter was overall very positive. Entry was smooth and quick, with no waiting time, and the staff at the entrance were friendly and efficient.

Inside, the bar staff were a bit hit-or-miss—not always the friendliest, but nothing that would ruin the night since you’re not there to make friends with them. Lockers were available, which was convenient, but it’s worth noting that you’ll need a €2 coin (or a token you can buy at the bar). However, the downside is that lockers can only be used once—if you reopen it, you’ll need to buy another token.

The music and sound quality were excellent, definitely a highlight of the night. The bathrooms were clean at the start of the evening, though later on, there was no toilet paper left—you’ll need to grab some from the front before heading in.

Security was present and attentive throughout the night, making the space feel safe. They addressed people who were smoking or vaping and even checked in on us when we were sitting on a bench at the edge of the dance floor. We were three women, and their presence gave us a sense of security. It felt like they would step in if needed (although we didn’t encounter any issues).

One downside, however, was that it got very cold inside towards the end of the night, which made it a bit uncomfortable.

Overall, Shelter delivered great music and a safe atmosphere, with just a few minor inconveniences. A solid place to enjoy a night out!

Got invitation from one of the friend, I was visited this club with my group of friends, 12 people, very nice place. A lot bad comments about security and staff, seems like is fake reviews , a lot of them so friendly and very cool people, nice talk with them. Also had a talk with female security she was nice, no rude at all. I think is the best techno club in Amsterdam! Highly recommended! For sure will back again!

I had a very bad experience for no reason. They wouldn't let me enter the club again, after I asked the bouncer if I could go out for a moment because I had to talk to my parents on the phone.Because there was enough chaos outside. After 1 minute that I had walked away and tried to go inside, they forbade me to enter, they made me feel like a criminal, they did not allow me to faint anymore To go down to the disco and take my stuff that was in the locker and go away. This is madness, ignorance, all the fault of people who work in the wrong places, and who are not people who should Have empathy, intelligence above all in doing them job.In the end they banned me from entering and went to my locker to get my stuff.
The worst thing is that I was with a group of DJs and important people, and that's why none of my friends, much less me, will ever go to this shitty place again.

My partner and I visited The Shelter excited to dance. Unfortunately, staff treated us rudely and discriminatorily.

We were refused entry, allegedly "too drunk," which was untrue. We felt targeted as British tourists. Staff were unprofessional and dismissive.

We paid 23 euros each and feel that we have been scammed

The worst night club I've been in Amsterdam so far. We have bought online tickets in advance and still had to wait at least 30 min at the door just to get in with already bought tickets, as you still have to wait in the same line as the door sale.

The club itself is small, dark, and packed. There's very little show lights or other visual effects which makes the experience even more boring. Music is really a 'hardcore techno' type. More than 90% of the visitors are young men (mostly tourists) which made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe even though I was together with my male partner.

The staff is super rude and ignorant at all aspects. Security doesn't even exist or if they do, they are either drinking, smoking, or doing their things with no attention at all to what's happening in the club. Unprofessional won't be enough to describe this.

All in all - beyond terrible and absolute money waste, as the entrance fee itself was 25€+ per person. Would give 0 or -1 stars if I could!
