Hoorn is one of the most picturesque towns in the north of the Netherlands.

The port area is worth visiting at any time, even in bad weather. Fortunately for me, I arrived on a beautiful day, which made the walk even more pleasant.

My visit was quite short, so I didn't get to see everything worth visiting in the area and missed some important tourist attractions. However, here is a short list of things that are worth seeing:

The pier, full of boats of all shapes and sizes

The countless bars and restaurants on the shore, offering reasonable prices and good food

The old defense towers of the medieval city, especially the "Hoofdtoren Hoorn"

The numerous canals, locks, and bridges, an additional proof that the Dutch truly are people of the sea

The statuary group "De Scheepsjongens Van Bontekoe"

Juliana Park, which starts next to the port and extends almost to the city center, where you can admire some of the fortified gates and bastions that were part of the city's defensive structure

In short, Hoorn is a perfect destination for a short vacation.

Lovely place, great heritage. How they keep it this way, how they save it so far it is great responsibility and very successful. Big applause to city hall and government of Nederland. Definitely recommended. Need to be seen.👍

Wonderful town, nice to visit while exploring countryside of Netherlands. Parking is possible in the city center on streets with payment machines. There is a nice park there.

A really beautiful historic town  and marinas to wander through. Great architecture and lots of little pavement cafes. Lots of sailing boats including some tall ships

Beautiful place for walk and clear your mind or just grab a beer coffee or have a lunch or nice dinner in one of the bars restaurants on the way.
