The wife and I stayed at Mauro Mansion last week for five days. We just loved our choice, as it is a great small hotel. Housed in a building built over five hundred years ago. Mauro Mansion is a small oasis in De Wallen. Even though the stairs are slightly steep they are easily managed. Our room 32 was very comfortable and quiet at night. The bathroom was very nice with a deep tub. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from Central Station. Also within walking distance to most museums. If you looking for a lovely place to stay in the red light district this is the place.

Quaint, perfectly located, clean, spacious and friendly are all adjectives that describe Mauro Mansion. I stayed in room 22 which was wonderful. It overlooked the canals, had a comfortable bed, a large private bathroom and on the first floor (20 steps up). The hosts were all incredibly pleasant and helpful. This was a TripAdvisor find and is truly a hidden gem in Amsterdam.

Excellent hotel 5 minutes from Amsterdam Central and at the Northeast end of the Red Light District. We couldn't have chosen a better location with its easy access to trains and trams. Marcel was very pleasant and allowed us to check in early and even took our bags to our room while we went to lunch. The room had a funky charm and colorful decor. Ours overlooked a canal on one side and had such a pretty view. It came with complimentary wine, water, sodas, and small snacks in the mini fridge. Each room has a hair dryer and coffee maker and the lobby has hot drinks 24/7. I loved that they had an honesty bar for snacks, DVDs to borrow, free wifi, and a printer for guests' convenience. We hadn't adjusted to the time change so we ended up eating breakfast out every morning but 7.50 Euro was super reasonable for a hot breakfast with eggs and pancakes. Would definitely stay here again if we come to Amsterdam. Even though it borders the red light district, it's on the outside so you don't have to deal with crowds and noise.

On our latest travel to Europe, we were shocked and dismayed to discover that The Black Tulip in Amsterdam had changed names and management. The Black Tulip used to be known for it's interesting character and unique furnishings, catering to a very specific type of patron. As we had always enjoyed our stays there previously, we hoped that the new management would offer us the same quality stay that we had under the previous staff. Mauro Mansion is a small (9 guest rooms) hotel. In it's previous incarnation, it was a bed and breakfast that catered to gay clients. In it's current situation, the clients are no longer only gay. The changes to the hotel appeared to be in the furniture...the walls remain as they did previously. As always, breakfast is an event onto itself. Berry and Marcel are of the firm idea that the quality of what is offered should be a bigger indication of how good something is as opposed to the quantity. Breakfast always had fresh, warm bread, cooked meats and sliced cheese, fresh fruit and juice, great coffee and cereals. For good measure, we asked for restaurant suggestions several times and were never directed to a bad meal. An outstanding place to stay, just on the edge of the Red Light District and very close to Amsterdam Centraal Station. We will certainly return!

Amazing hotel! Friendly and wonderful staff, Berry and Marcel make you feel welcome and right at home. Comfortable room with a great view of the canal. Great location as it is close to Amsterdam Centraal Station.

I will never stay anywhere else in Amsterdam. Mauro mansion is located across the street from Amsterdam Centraal. Located in the middle of everything, cannot beat the location. The staff is impeccable and kind. Every detail of the room is cleaned to perfection and the rooms are a great size. Provide guests with umbrellas to borrow, welcome drinks, important info for activities. The location is also really safe which was very important to me. They take extra caution in security.

We arrived at Mauro Mansion around 3:45 PM and proceeded to check in. The host Marcel was kind and friendly. He offered to take the large suitcase upstairs (our room was on the third floor.) I forgot the Mansion did not have an elevator. The stairwell is steep and narrow. I made it. The room is very unique. It has a red motif. There is a metal barber chair in the room. Not sure why it would be on the third floor bedroom. The Mansion provided an electric fan and heater. The bed was a bit soft for our taste. The bathroom was long and narrow. It has heated floors. There was a desk for your laptop or wrote a note or letter. There was a flat-screen television with approximately 79 channels. More than Hotel Absalon in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Mansion offered continental breakfast for 7,50 euros. The hosts (Marcel and Berry) made eggs and pancakes when ordered. They were extremely helpful. They made reservations for us as well as recommended two very good local restaurants. If you are in Amsterdam, please stay at Maurio Mansion
