My first Indonesian experience so I am no expert, but totally LOVED IT! I had the $30 Ricetafle with noodles. The service was fantastic, the owner I assume (lady) roamed to dining room to be sure everyone was happy, and they were! Located on the bottom right side of Rembrantplein. Awesome!

I don't understand why this place has 4 stars???? Service i give them a 4-5 stars. The owner is super friendly, others staff stops by your table every minute. I order 3 dishes since the Pre course meal was not worth it (cheapest was $30 for 5 course meals wich includes fried rice spring rolls small beef plates) After we ordered the dishes came out in less than 5 min. Beef rendang ($14)- Overcooked meat. The dish was already Premade! Not made to order. Chicken Curry ($13)- Same as Beef Rendang order, overcooked and dry. Fried fish over (hot) sauce- this one was the most expensive (22.50) and was the worse, the fish was soo hard to chew and DRY after long overfry and sitting in the dish. Is not even fresh. Why would i want to pay $60 worth of food that It was already made? (I could have been at the Chinese Wok place and get $8 for it). Oh, forgot to mention. Only Bottle water (large for $6.5). I rather order a beer (5.50 or a soda (2.50) for it. On top of that, the service guys who doesn't understand English, i wanted my leftovers to go (mentioned it 3 times). The guy took them and piled up the plates one on top of another, he thought we finished (Sigh).... My BF got SO mad that he just told him to bring us the Box and we put it ourselves. (Not to mentioned he sticked his THUMB into the rice before we got our entrees). The owner saw it but didnt bother to apologize or offer us anything. She just kept herself bringing customers to the restaurant and please them. Not a good way to serve food, the customers and your staff. Save your $$ and go somewhere else.

Despite the fact that many other reviews seem to say that the service here is stellar, I had a total opposite experience. My friend and I sat down for a meal around 6 PM on a weekday. When we walked in, only one other table of people were eating and the inside dining rooms were completely empty. After we ordered and made our way through the meal, we sat and continued to have a conversation over our food. Several (in fact, far too many) times we were approached by 3-4 different wait staff asking if we had enjoyed the meal and if we were done. All three times, I told the separate staff members that the food was great but we were not done with the food or the table. At this point, several other parties had also sat down but by no means was the restaurant completely full. Then, without a word, one waitress I had previously talked to started taking away all of our food and clearing the table without asking if we would like to take away anything or asking if we were finished. I even audibly said "I guess we are done now!" as she was clearing. I found it so rude that she wordlessly "booted us" from our table while we were obviously not done yet. I also was planning on bringing some of the leftover food that I had paid for home, but since she cleared the plates so fast by putting them on top of each other, that was no longer an option. The food was okay but definitely not the best I've had. Especially for how expensive it was! I would recommend tourists to avoid this restaurant with it's strange wait staff manners and find a better quality Indonesian place elsewhere in the city.

Very bad food. Orders lambchop (medium) on the menu which said with rosemary. Chops were overcooked & chewy. Had to go to the bathroom to pick the pieces of meat which was stuck in my teeth What a way to end 2016 nye dinner. We had to go to another restaurant as the food at Pelangi didn't felt like a meal at all. Worst restaurant one eaten on my trip to Amsterdam

Nice wine selection....the st.emillion was very smooth. The food: Started with prawn toast and a homemade chili sauce you can put on the toast. This was followed by a chicken soup with fresh sprouts scallions and vermicelli noodles and pieces of chicken. Soup was surprisingly tasteful and a nice start to the main meal. Then came out mackerel in hot sauce, beef panang, pork skewers, coconut vegetables and vegetables in peanut sauce. The dishes I tried were great. I had some dietary requests that they were quick to adjust to with no fuss. Also served was fried banana with fresh fruit in a light sauce. That was dessert. Overall food was great, service was great - I would recommend it if you are in the mood for Indonesian!

Yes I know there's nothing to expect at busy tourist spot, so don't go. Or, not to expect anything. It was very normal restaurant, nothing authentic as Indonesian. I ordered the first menu (Indonesian food usually served on a big metal plate with small portions of everything), it was nearly mixture of Indian and Chinese food. Well, the price was ok. €17.5 per person, we spent €45 for two. But there are also expensive menu €40-30 per person.

Food = Authentic! Sevice = the best I have seen in Amsterdam. From opening the door to you to filling up your glasses and plate as soon as they see you are running low or you are going for the re-fill yourself. The funny thing is that considering their location I was so sure it was a tourist trap. However to my surprise (and I have a lot of experience with Indonesian food) it was authentic! No joke my first 5 star I believe and a lot has to happen. Now if I have to name a downside it would be that they did not have my favorite Indonesian snacks on the menu....but hey we can't have it all! Can we?

Worth the splurge. Very good of many Indonesian spots in Amsterdam right inside Rembrandtplein. Around €75 with drinks and tip gets you a feast for two called a rijsttafel. An array of nine separate dishes and a big bowl of rice. All in all, it was great. If you don't want to pay up, a la carte prices are pretty reasonable but suck it up (or suck it in for that matter) and go for the rijsttafel, there's nothing like it. Service was very friendly and decor was candle lit and quaint.

My first Indonesian experience (both in Amsterdam and in my life) and it was great! My friend and I had the rijsttafel, which was around 12 euros and came with three dishes and rice. The dishes included amazingly delicious peanut butter sauce chicken, equally delicious spicy eggs, and a beef dish. The sauces were fantastic and the only downside was that I wish they were bigger and we could have more rice. Another downside is that even water is not free...service was good, but the manager was not pleased with us not ordering drinks...

Great food, great service! The hostess and waiters treat you like family, suggesting best ways to eat food and even spooning it on your plate with suggested side dishes. However, as with most Indonesian restaurants, a serving for one will easily feed two.
