My partner and I had a delightful evening meal at Avalon to cap off our time in Oslo.

Avalon is a beautiful restaurant which serves tremendous food and delivers exceptional table service. From the start, we were greeted with friendly and attentive service who took us through the menu and highlighted personal recommendations. We started with some cocktails, one off-menu, before moving onto their brilliant wine selection - fans of orange wine will love the Vignaioli.

The food was stunning - the Bone Marrow starter and the Cabbage side plate were particular stand-outs. The half trout, which we shared, was also very good.

The service throughout the evening, from both wait staff, was very attentive. Each main dish got an introduction, and they were always quick to clear the table or notice a request. My only gripe was that, for a Friday evening, Avalon was very quiet. I suspect this may be a difference between London and Oslo, as it would be packed if this was in the UK! Still, it meant we benefited from personal table service, so I can't complain too much.

I recommend Avalon to anyone who's looking for an upmarket meal to celebrate their time in Oslo. It's a special evening out with some truly delightful food.

Nice restaurant and fresh food prepared. Try the Mussels for a different taste and so yummy. The seating was pleasant and service excellent.

Phenomenal food and service! The waitress and chef were incredibly personable and gave us such personalized and warm service. Every dish we had was amazing, especially the lamb, potatoes, tomatoes, and scallops! They also had amazing cocktails.

Wonderful restaurant with good, honest food in generous portions. The menu changes according to availability of produce, but the overall sharing concept remains the same. Each dish has a wonderful flavour balance that keeps you wanting more. I can easily see myself going back to try the rest of the extensive menu. The interior is spacious and modern and well suited towards a business dinner more so than romantic date. The wine selection is very strong.

This is likely one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten is Oslo. My husband and I sat at the bar to watch the chefs cook and that was so fun. You can see the passion they have and the pride they take. Even after they started breaking things down to close, another table walked in and they happily got everything back out to make one last meal on a quiet Sunday evening.

We had the fish croquettes, bone marrow, pork and German potato salad. That bone marrow was the best I’ve ever had. It’s very indulgent with beef tartar on it as well. And the pork was cooked to perfection. The potato salad was amazing as well.

Everything was absolutely wonderful and I would go back if I ever visited Oslo again.
