I like many things here. Beautiful lightening, sofa, chair, washroom. Good skillful dishes. Professional sommelier picking good wine for us. Service is wonderful. Dessert Madeline is superb ❤️

Overall a subpar experience for a three-star Michelin restaurant. Water glasses sat empty, wine glasses sat empty, and the staff felt stressed/strapped. The dishes were uninventive (many served in the same type of soupy froth), too many desserts (and all were ice cream(?!)). Offered champagne at the start of the meal and tea at the end of the meal and ended up being charged separately for both of those (without being told prior to). Overall the experience was good but did not compare to the expectation of a three star restaurant. The most exciting room in the restaurant was the bathroom.

On the day of our reservation, we arrived at Maaemo on time. The doors were firmly shut, and after ringing the bell, we waited for about two minutes. When the door finally opened, I couldn’t help but joke with the host, “Why do high-end restaurants always make themselves so mysterious? You have to ring a bell, and then wait forever for someone to open the door!”

I really admire the cooking style of the chef, Esben Holmboe Bang. He uses a simple approach to pair Norwegian ingredients with a keen sense of aesthetics. There’s no unnecessary garnish, and no overwhelming portions. By the end of the meal, everything felt perfectly balanced—nothing wasted, just a truly enjoyable dining experience.

Faultless. A true 3 Michelin Star experience. One of the best meals that I have had the fortune of being part of. From start to finish it was an experience worth flying to Oslo for. The food is exquisite and perfectly balanced.

My allergies were perfectly catered for. My children even had a blind tasting for matching juices. The paired wines matched flawlessly.. the list of superlatives goes on.

Being 3 stars, almost sets a restaurant up for failure as expectations are so high. Maaemo delivered and some!
