A vila foi oferecida pelo rei D. Dinis ao primeiro Conde de Barcelos em 1298, à beira do rio Cávado, Barcelos é uma cidade alegre e risonha como as gentes do Minho.
A Festa das Cruzes é um mergulho na luz e cor da tradição e, quem gosta de feiras, todas as quintas-feiras há uma que tem de tudo: hortaliças, ourivesaria, roupa de casa, ferrarias, loiças e...bons petiscos.
Todos ficam encantados com as figuras coloridas e cheias de imaginação do seu artesanato.

Das Touristenbüro ist eine gute Anlaufstelle um diese schöne Stadt mit ihrer Geschichte und den Gassen kennenzulernen. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr nett und mir kam es vor als freuten sie sich uns die Sehenswürdigkeiten der Stadt auf der Karte zu zeigen. Die Karte durften wir (kostenlos) mitnehmen.

The tourist office is a good place to get to know this beautiful city with its history and alleys. The staff were very nice and I felt like they were happy to show us the city's sights on the map. We were allowed to take the card with us (free of charge).
