Stunning hotel that cares about every detail. Easy arrival with friendly staff, lemon water and hot, fruit tea - perfect to enjoy during a walk around town. Comfortable and clean rooms that were surprisingly large. Rooms are well insulated - if you’re a hot sleeper, suggest to get a room with a window, otherwise there’s no way to adjust the temp. Otherwise, we were extremely pleased with our stay in this romantic hotel!

Of note: beds were comfortable, there’s endless hot water in the shower and breakfast was delightful (one of the best display’s we’ve seen). Perfect location.

We booked this hotel as a bit of a treat, given we’d been staying in more budget accommodations in the early part of our vacation.

Check in was easy. We were early (coming in on the ferry) so stored our bags and were able to come back at 1:30 to check in. Our room faced the interior courtyard. It was fine for us as we were out most time during the day. If you are thinking about such a room do know there is no window except into the interior courtyard and you will hear their music from about 8AM to 8PM. Our room was large and very comfortable. They do need to work on the heating/cooling as it was warm yet only 15 degrees outside.

Breakfast was very good. A great selection of options and decent in quality. It was open 7AM to 10AM.

Which leads to - some very odd service observations and experiences. First, we would ask for ice to keep the white wine in the room cold. On 2 of the 3 times we asked we had to stand and wait so we could take it up ourselves. No issue, but if you’re going to be a boutique hotel you need to serve the guests; not allow self-serve. Second, as rooms are not made up unless requested, we asked for some additional coffee pods on day 2. We were told we could get 2 and then they were 2 Euro each. How do you solve this; hang the “please make up room” sign each day so they will leave you coffee pods each day. What a waste of energy yes?

Last, we had laundry to do and asked if they did that. We were told they do, and a price list is in the room; hang the listed items and they are done in 24hrs. Well, there was no price list we could find in the room but we hung the bundle in any case; how bad could it be? For about the same amount of laundry the last hotel charged us 20 Euro. The final bill here - 116.50 Euro. While we do have to own it because we went ahead without the price list, this can only be described as outrageous.

They have some seriously strange issues to iron out. If they do this is a great hotel.

The hotel is located in the center, next to a large public garage. The room was actually a 60 sq m apartment, clean, nicely furnished, the 2m bed very comfortable. The breakfast was very good and quite varied. The hotel staff friendly and professional.
Later Edit: This was my review a day after staying at the hotel. Two days later I received an email saying we had to pay 17 euros for a wine that was placed on the table in the room next to the bottle of water. Nowhere was it written that that wine or water were payable. Moreover, the hotel offer stated that a glass of wine per person was included. Since the restaurant was closed, we understood that that wine was from promotion. The wine was bad, we couldn't drink it, but we thought the gesture was nice. In fact, it was a hoax. I sent the hotel a screenshot of the promotion with the glass of wine. We will pay for the bad wine. Next time we will avoid this hotel.

This note isn't meant for venting; it's merely a set of facts and observations:

- We were traveling with a child and had requested early check in online and confirmed it on the phone the day prior to our arrival. However, they didn't honor that when we got there. We had to spend a few hours outside  on a hot August day with a temperature of 95 degree Fahrenheit (35 celsius).

- I'd asked for an extra mattress in the online booking page. The front desk denied receiving such a request until I showed them a screenshot of my booking confirmation. Then they said our room wouldn't fit an extra mattress. We'd booked a fairly sizeable suite so I don't understand how it couldn't accommodate a mattress. They moved us to a room 2 classes below what we'd paid for and they wouldn't adjust the rate accordingly. That is, they gave us a  basic deluxe room and charged us for a full size suite. I asked to speak with the manager. The front desk called her and she said she couldn't be bothered on her day off, and there was no one else to address the issue.

- After taking up 2 hours of our time on the above-mentioned nonsense, they moved us to the lower category room. It turned out the room didn't have air conditioning and that was a day with heat warning in Bratislava so we had to sleep in a hot room that smelled like an old Irish pub.

- I'd selected this hotel because of its historical look and proximity to the town center but I very much regret that choice now. I hope this note is useful to others so they can make a better-informed  decision.

Everything about this place is amazing: staff, room, cleanliness. Great coffee available in the room and the pods are biodegradable, complimentary cosmetics is in recycled plastic, breakfast is rich.
