Fine hotel and the rooms were well appointed.  Simply delightful and helpful front desk staff.  The English Pub tender was super friendly. The problem was, this is only a 35  +/- room hotel and the hotel business seemed to be secondary to the restaurants and bars run from the hotel.  They were packed with others wishing they could stay at this fine hotel, leaving us unable to utilize the rooftop bar.  When we could get seated on the roof, the staff was overworked and had a very poor attitude towards guests.  Also, the breakfast staff was late in getting breakfast ready when we specifically requested they be on-time (07:30) the day of our early departure (05.09).  An otherwise pleasant stay dampened by poor food service.

We have had the best holiday at your hotel and want to extend a big thanks to your team for making it such a memorable stay. The rooms were wonderful and cleaned every day to such a high standard. The hotel is in the best location and offers so many options for drinks and dinner, we highly recommend a visit to the roof top. All the team are so friendly and helpful and we felt as if we have been guests for many years even though it is our first stay here. At the first night it was a little noisy but the reception staff were at hand with ear plugs and even arranged for a little apology gift which was so kind. The rest of the days we slept so well and it was quiet. The food in the restaurants tastes very good as well as the cocktails. For me as a vegetarian it was also great to have the veggie options on the menu. The kitchen was very accomplished with requests on dishes and we had a wonderful time sitting outside for dinner and breakfast. The beach is super close and there are many restaurants to visit only a few minutes walk away. Truly a special experience thank you!

We arrived in Estepona around 8 am when we found out our previous accommodation would not be ready until 3 pm. We were desperate as we had been awake for 24 hours. The front desk attendant at Hotel El Pilar was so helpful and kind. She took our luggage and although check in was usually at 2 was able to get us a room by noon. We were so thankful! The room was beautiful with a stunning view of the square. The room service was great. They cooked one of the most delicious steaks we’ve ever had! The people working the hotel were kind and accommodating. The only down side was one server in the breakfast restaurant. We had no problem speaking Spanish with other locals, but for some reason she refused to understand us. She actually pretended not to understand when my husband ordered agua. I would understand the accent getting in the way of a more complicated word, but it is apparent she was just irritable because we didn’t have a problem communicating with anyone else during our time there. Other than that, we had a lovely experience!

Wow. We just had drinks here on the roof terrace and it was wonderful. I remember staying in the old hostel that used to be on this site some 20 years ago and boy has it changed.

Fantastic hotel and service. On the pricey side but really worth it.

Was served two glass of champagne upon arrival. The nicest ladies handled our checkin. Great recommendation of where to go. Room was amazing with balcony with jacuzzi. Rooftop bar is an outstanding place to enjoy a sundowner or two.
