Wow! The entrance is unassuming and you can see the beef hanging in the chillers when you arrive. Very authentic rustic interior, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable staff. Beautiful food/ingredients cooked with care with no need to be over fussy. Simple and superb.
You see the steaks beig cooked, ours was around 1.5kg, enough for three. It's cooked to the chefs taste, beautifully rare with a wonderful crust. The sides are delicious as was the Cheesecake I had for dessert.
They have a good wine cellar as well.
The staff speak very good English so visitors feel very at home. If you are close book this restaurant for a taste sensation!

Overpriced and impersonal… you can get equal steaks with more friendly service elsewhere for half the price in San Sebastian.  Not worth the journey in my opinion.

The steak was good. The tomatoes were sweet and the olive oil on the salad was good quality. We enjoyed the asparagus. But not so much that it was worth the huge price.

The service was impersonal and the dishes all arrived too quickly.  We were charged for bread but weren’t asked if we wanted it. There was grit on the mushrooms. Our booking was for 1pm and we were done before 2pm. This is not how I like to enjoy my lunch!

Nice place, well made food and it was tasty. The peppers were amazing and the meat was good. However it's a bit pricey, 85€/kg, we paid 111 for two persons. For this price the meat should be better, more tender.
The seasonal special was a small portion of mushrooms, very tasty but the mushrooms were not brushed or washed properly, which made them sandy. When we informed the staff they removed it from our tab which was not expected, but very professional and service minded, bravo!

There is a lack of personal touch, you don't feel as special as you should when you enter. This is why I can only give four stars.

I just don’t understand the positive reviews here. The steak was average at best. So much hype. Failed to live up to it. Firstly freezing cold 16c air con so had to move. The didn’t have the wine I ordered but wine list hadn’t been updated. Steak was way undercooked even though we asked for medium. Sent back. Mushrooms €28 ridiculous and tiny portion. Steak was tough full of gristle and fat and nowhere near as good as I can cook at home. All in a massive disappointment and too expensive.

The ham was great, steak good but not the best I had on the trip. My mushroom appetizer was amazing, definitely highlight of the meal. I thought the steak was salty, the cook was a little uneven and it was more expensive than most restaurants by wuite a bit.  The restaurant is expensive to get to if coming from San Sebastian by taxi.  It was a nice once in a lifetime steakhouse visit but a tad disappointing because it was my 3rd favorite steak during my one week Basque region visit. I could even lower rating to 3 stars with how famous and expensive the restaurant is.
