We were excited to try NUB, thinking we were going to have our minds blown with the best food on the island. Our journey to heaven was nothing less than a train ride through a nightmare you wanted to leave early from. EVERYTHING lacked seasoning, leaving you to eat bland lamb, bland fish, and cold spaghetti. Yes, cold and bland spaghetti is a dish in a Michelin star restaurant somehow. It almost tasted like it was either frozen or canned. I brought my future wife to her first Michelin starred restaurant with this experience and I had to explain that this is not normal. Please save your money and try another Michelin starred restaurant on the island. This restaurant is too obsessed with moving you around to different tables (decent concept on paper) for different meals, than actually serving you good food. Our disappointment changed our thoughts on exploring more Michelin starred restaurants, especially on the island, but I want to give other restaurants the benefit of the doubt that they aren't making the same mistakes. That aside, I will at least point out that the atmosphere (I could do without the dessert room) and the service were still very good. The employees here obviously care and do a great job.

Nub was everything we hoped for and more with a lot of unexpected surprises along the way. Yes, you do need to accept it is an “experience” and it does take a full 4 hours to get from start to finish. If you really want to enjoy Nub as we did, just sit back relax have some healthy conversation, enjoy the wines and let yourself be immersed in the overall experience rather than being overly judgemental as some diners were. The staff couldn’t be faulted and the food was utterly flawless. The opportunity to meet the Michelin starred chef couple at the end of the night and have a lovely conversation over desserts was a welcome treat for my husband and I.

It was well worth every penny as an unforgettable degustation experience.  Interestingly enough my husband who is probably the most meaty person you’ll ever meet found the vegetable soup to be his favourite dish and he finished every single one of the dessert bites despite normally not having a sweet tooth!

An absolute legend
We loved every detail: from the ambiance, friendliness and most important, the outstanding dinner. It is prepared with such a precision in regards to aroma, acid, sweetness, consistency and arrangement. Loved it. Don’t read the menu just go there and let it be a surprise!

And order a peppermint tea at the end; you will be surprised.

Slow service and fairly average food makes nub a pretty disappointing experience.  Sommelier seems more interested in her own status than in serving guests.  We asked for a second bottle of wine and it took half an hour to get it opened and we spent 25 minutes with no drinks or food - despite asking for it twice.  Some of the food was quite nice but most dishes pretty average. Three main dishes served with a very similar salty gravy.  The fish was nice but the lamb was a fatty cut and not particularly good.  They make a play about a few drops of 25 year aged balsamic vinegar but overlook the fact that most of the ingredients are pretty run of the mill.  For the price you would expect at least one star dish, but there was none.  The main issue however is that this was such a slow, tedious, process, taking over three and a half hours.  There were huge gaps between courses and the place lacked atmosphere.  Staff seem to be focusing on the wrong things, replacing napkins and pushing your chair in, are all well and good, but what customers really want is you to listen to them and give them what they want.  There are a lot of staff but it didn't look like any one was in charge.   In the end we were bored to tears and just wanted to get out. What was meant to be the highlight of the holiday was really dull and disappointing.

We had an 8-course dinner at Nub, and while some aspects were enjoyable, the overall experience didn’t quite justify the €450 price tag for two people.

The venue is ok, but the large dining room feels a bit impersonal. They’ve tried to make it unique, but the ambiance didn’t fully come together for us. The starters were decent, but the service around alcohol felt overly pushy. We declined the full 8-glass wine pairing, and then we declined a bottle of wine as we rather wanted a glass, and the sommelier seemed visibly displeased—a surprising attitude for a restaurant of this caliber.

The courses that followed were good, and some dishes showcased thoughtful flavors. However, were they Michelin-star good? I’m not convinced. As someone who’s visited Michelin-starred establishments worldwide, the flavors here, like some of the tomato infused dishes, lacked the wow factor that usually defines this level of dining.

One of the biggest drawbacks was the pacing. The gaps between courses were far too long, stretching the meal to over 3.5++ hours. It felt like the delays were designed to encourage more drinking, which didn’t sit well with us since we weren’t in the mood for excessive alcohol. We also noticed other diners appearing restless due to the prolonged waits.

Portion sizes were another issue. With only 8 courses, the servings were too small. This left us wanting more savory dishes—especially since the lamb course, while delicious, was tiny. The dessert section, on the other hand, was overwhelming. Two types of ice cream followed by around 15 small cakes felt excessive. A lighter, more balanced dessert or an additional savory course would have been a better way to end the meal.

At €450 for two people, the meal had moments of brilliance but didn’t feel worth the cost. The uneven pacing, pushy wine service, and imbalanced courses made it hard to fully enjoy what should have been a top-tier dining experience.
