In the centre of Gràcia (neighbourhood of Barcelona), between the streets of Ramón y Cajal and Terol, you can find this small square, the Revolució (Revolution).
It is a transit area for many residents of the neighbourhood and full of bars, restaurants and one of the best ice cream parlous in the area.

Since the mid-19th century it had been named after the Queen of Spain Isabel II. When the monarch was dethroned it was renamed "de la Revolució".

It is so close to the Abaceria Market, on Travessera de Gràcia, that for a few years it was popularly known as Plaza del Mercat. During the Franco regime it was called Plaza de la Unificación and, in the eighties, it recovered the name Revolució. Originally, it was a dirt plaza; Now it is a square paved with reddish slabs that has a children's play area always full of children. The hopscotch game mosaic stands out, which was inaugurated in 1997 during the Gràcia Festival: it is a tour of the traditional images of the festival.

When the square was remodelled in 1995, it was discovered that an air raid shelter from the Civil War was hidden underground. Only a small area of the infirmary remains, which can be accessed from the fourth floor of the parking lot.

Nice place take a rest from long days, enjoy a drink, tapas or cafes and let the kids climb on the playground or play ball. Nicely situated in the artistic Gracia neighborhood.

Stopped for a late afternoon lunch on an extremely hot day! Even so, sat on the shaded patio to enjoy the people watching in Revolution Square. The Sangria was amazing! Wonderful sandwiches with goats cheese, chicken and fresh tomatoes. My only negative was the fries were a little tasteless. That said, it was such a hot day it could have simply been that fried food wasn’t the best choice.
The service was fantastic, kudos to the server who was the ultimate salesman for this restaurant!
