Dined for lunch as 2x. Got lucky with a last minute booking due to other cancellation. What a beautiful setting on the terrace. 😍 thought the food was very very good. We ordered 4 dishes which they willingly divided for us, so we could each get a share of each course. Lovely local flavours and good wines to match. Service was good. Definitely recommend 🤩

Phenomenal dinner!

We have been wanting to try this restaurant for the last few visits to Donostia-San Sebastian ("DSS") and are so glad we were finally able to make the time to finally try them.

First off the restaurant is a nice mix of both locals and visitors although even the visitors all seemed to be regular visitors, so it gave the restaurant a more authentic vibe.

Second, every seating area, from the interior dining rooms to the outdoor seating is all very put together and comfortable.

Third, the food was amazing and exceeded our expectations, even with our hotel telling us this is the best restaurant in DSS.  It was all excellently prepared and plated and all of it was delicious.

They also have an incredible wine menu although this was our first night back in town so we went with the local txakolina wine.  We also ordered a couple different glasses of port wine and also saw they had our favorite Madeira wine - Barbieto.

Finally, and the most important thing to us, the staff was excellent.  They were professional without being stuffy and took amazing care of us.

We cannot wait to visit again during future visits to DSS.

So disappointing. Booked this as a treat for us, but it was probably one of our least favourite experiences. Unfortunately we were not able to sit of the beautiful terrace due to the weather, so sat inside. The table was wobbly and had to be fix with a folded piece of cardboard -not a good start when you're paying over 100 euros per person!

I got the white beans and mussels to start -which were alright -but nothing to write home about. My husband got the Iberian ham starter, which was just a load of ham on a plate -there was no imagination to the plate -not sauce or accompaniments or even a garnish.

For main, I got the kokotxas as it was a local speciality. There was not really any flavour to the dish. My husband had the venision, which he said was nice, but not exceptional.

The best part for the meal, was the dessert -the millefeuille with passion fruit sorbet was delicous and the chocolate coulant and apricot icecream also very good.

The staff were not warm or friendly and did not check on us to see if we needed anything. There was a lot of noise from the counter where they were cutting the meat. We had to ask twice to be brought the bill.

In summary, the food was average considering the price and the staff and atmosphere did not make us feel welcome. It was really disappointing as we had high expectations for a lovely evening.

Great Alfresco for patrons to enjoy the sunset view at Rekondo, they have the ala carte menu so it’s great for small eaters like us to try a lot more options. Their wine list is extensive so have a tour after dinner to their wine cellar and be impressed!
Food was delightful and their suckling pork was on point with the tenderness wrapped with the crispy crunch.

Wow. Had high expectations based on all reviews and every single dish was phenomenal including the olive oil. Friendly staff all around and a cozy outdoor setting with the city view. Got slightly chilly towards the end of the meal and there are a few bugs so I’d wear long sleeves next time. Thank you Rekondo team for a great evening!
