The one star I can award is for the rooms which are airy, bright and comfortable. Although our room did have side tables that were literally hanging off the wall. Beautiful gardens and a nice pool. However the service at this hotel is abysmal to the point I would not consider this a 5 star hotel in the slightest. Spa staff were non existent when we went. The allegedly infamous salt pool was strewn with mould and mildew and a rotting wooden surround. Reception staff have 0 knowledge of excursions and day trip planning and if you pick them up on it you can expect a classic German style of customer service rather than the warm Spanish one. Food is ok nothing to brag about. Restaurant staff are equally strange saw one waiter get into an argument with another guest as to why they hadn’t booked a larger table before - again not to be expected at a five star hotel. Nothing about this hotel is to sing about. At over £500 a night I’d rather take my money to a brand I trust.

I recently stayed at Fonsanta Hotel Thermal Spa, and while it has the potential to be a 5-star experience, I would classify it more as a 4-star. The hotel has a cozy and picturesque atmosphere, but certain aspects left much to be desired.

The on-site spa was convenient but in need of updates. I arrived 15 minutes early for a scheduled massage but waited 30 minutes past my appointment time due to staff not notifying the masseuse. There appeared to be no proper check-in system for paid services and I had to cancel the session do to lack of time to complete the treatment.

In an attempt to make up for this mishap, the hotel later sent a bottle of cava, but it felt like a minimal gesture given the inconvenience.

Additionally, I was disappointed by the outdoor bar. I visited it twice, and both times I needed to go inside the restaurant to get someone’s attention and this was a case for several guest.

The room and bathroom were on the smaller side, but cozy enough for a short stay. We ordered ice to the room, only to find there was a charge for it, which felt a bit strange and unexpected for a hotel aiming to be 5-star.

Overall, while the hotel has charm and potential, certain service issues and details fell short of what you’d expect at a 5-star property.

My wife and I had a wonderful three days at the hotel, spa, and restaurant. Our room was large and had a view of the courtyard.  We took advantage of the  3 day spa package, and each of the treatments was very relaxing. I might have fallen asleep. We had the breakfast buffet ea h morning and dinner at the restaurant one night, and food was very good. We enjoyed the couple extra treats that came during the meal.
One extra with the spa package is access to the beach house.

I am not staying at the hotel so I cannot speak to that.  But, I did book a spa and lunch there and had a wonderful experience.  The spa was so relaxing.  I used every facility, the thermal pool, the jacuzzi, the sauna, the cold room, the outdoor and indoor relaxing areas.  The spa is beautiful, clean and well managed.  They even have an area where you can relax on a water bed!  I haven't used one of those since the 70's.  It was marvelous.  Then, I went to lunch on their lovely patio.  The staff were professional and attentive.  For non guests, the menu was limited, but so what.  The food was superb.  I had the pork cheeks with so many sauces and stuff that I can't even list them.  What I can say is that food was both beautifully plated and so flavorful I almost fell out of my chair.  I felt utterly decadent with this experience.
