Jönköping is s sleepy little town in south central Sweden and we spent the night there on a recent road trip. It was late (nearly 10pm…) but we found El Gordo and a fantastic waiter who went above and beyond to accommodate us. He let us sample some wine, got our food order in just before the kitchen closed and he was just as friendly and engaging as could be. The Vespertino red (Tempranillo) was outstanding. The pimentos de padron a little bulky and seedy. The patatas bravas were good and the cheese plate excellent. A very solid place and beautifully decorated inside. Outdoor seating on a pedestrian lakefront path was very nice.

Great tapas restaurant! Situated in city center near lake this nice restaurant highly recommended for all tapas lovers. This place have friendly and helpful staff, impressive interior with some kind of industrial design and delicious food! Some of tapas was absolutely perfect for example beets with goat cheese, grilled lamb-racks and gambas. We definitely enjoyed our dinner and will come back!

WoW 😳 what a great 😌 feeling to enjoy 😉 dinner 🍽 at El Gordo Spanish restaurant....
First of all, staff was really nice 👍 helpful, friendly and polite this thing makes me feel excited.
Food was really delicious 😋 😋 and Spanish red wine 🍷 it was really tasty 😋
Atmosphere was really awesome 🤩 quite and great harmony.
View from lake is really awesome and beautiful...
Is not far from central station 🚉  and not far from city center.
I recommend this place to everyone who live in Jönköping, and also i recommend this place to everyone who will visit Jönköping city.

This place unexpectedly welcomed me in Jönköping!Wanted to go for some food,but waitress welcomed with nice suggestion!Even lunch was almost over,man and woman waitress was not mentioning that and welcomed very friendly with food!Salads was so good!!!A lot fresh and tasty variety!Prepared without any problems vegetarian risotto.With lots of chanterelles.Next day I invited my colleagues and they were also amazed by food,service and price!High quality restaurant with super good food with good prices!Today I haven't doubts where I will have lunch!Came to my favorite El Gordo restaurant and man waiter again prepared veggie food-totally special for me!And then he suggested to try gnocchi! I was full already:)But he asked cook to prepare for me to try!So after huge amount of salads,of vegetarian main meal,he brought present-gnocchi with chanterelles and vegetables!Taste was amazing!!!!Then got desert-chocolate cake!!!! I thought I will explode of so much food,but I could't say NO for such hospitality and so good food!!!And especially waitress who was so friendly with me!!!!Pitty I don't know his name...But if you go there-you will see immediately this special man who is very friendly and helpful!!!!Thank you El Gordo and thank you for everything!!!!!!!!!!!Totally happy!!!!!!

Personel very nice. They find a table although the restaurant vas full. Food delicious, nice ambient in the city center near the lake. Nice view, together with great vine and food created pleasant experiance.
