In different places on the boulders, you can see so-called cup marks.
They are small chiselled, rounded depressions, common on boulders from stone-age graves such as dolmen or passage tombs. Archaeologists have found cup marks on the parts of the boulders which are not visible above ground. This entails that boulders from older graves were used when Ale's stones were erected.

Place about 1 hour from Malmo. Incredible location on the North Sea. Free entrance but paid parking nearby. Recommended

Very nice historic location with a scenic view. Good tourist restaurants around with good food to reasonable prices. 600 m uphill walk from the parking lot.

Hey everyone.. .Ales Stenar megaliths are located on the coast of the very south of Sweden. The relief near the coast gently undulates and cows graze in the pastures. Ales Stenar megaliths with an oval outline are placed in the form of a stone ship. There are several theories as to what Ales Stenar was for. One assumes that it was a kind of calendar that determined the days of the equinox with the help of the sun. Other than that it is a cult place or a tomb.

One of the mysterious places in Sweden. Beautiful view over the ocean and coast. I visited first time when i was a small kid but since then I have been there at least 20 times now latest with my own kids. Park down in the village or if you are lucky in the harbour. Some steps to reach the hight of the flat surface where the stones are. During summertime the cows are more interesting then the stones for smaller kids.  Look out for the flying people paragliding over head. Finish of with ice-cream and fish in the harbour or why not a waffel in a small cosy café.  Definitely recommend this place. Keep a watch out for your kids so they do not run close to the edge when you still are on the way towards the stones. No cost to visit this place.
