Först och främst var Orient /ocident hotel en av de bästa val vi har gjort. Trevligt beläget, otrolig interieur, underbara turkiska kaffe. Ändå är det de tak där vi har börjat och slutat varje dag av vår resa till Istanbul. Inte bara på grund av den fantastiska utsikten, det är de härliga människorna som arbetar där. Cig Köfte, en traditionell mat med en mycket lång historia, skapad av Chef de cusine Gökberk är bergiga. En väldigt trevlig kille också. Vi har bara druckit turkiskt vin och det borde du också göra. Utvald av Soner. Stackaren fick stå emot min europeiska tounge. Det gjorde han. Bra saker varar, eller hur? Halit, Furkan, Gamze, Eda, Nerve och Özpe, alla får en att känna, som om man aldrig vill åka igen. Jag saknar dem redan. Ett stort tack till dem alla!

MEZZEPOTAMIAN är en av dessa pärlor. Ett takparadis som påminner om takrestaurangerna och loungerna jag minns från glansdagarna i 1980- och 90-talets New York-sociala scen. Vilken bra plats. Perfekt ställe för drinkar eller middag under solnedgången och servicen var fantastisk. Chefen sommelier, Soner, plockade ut ett bra vin för oss och gav enastående service. Efter att ha pratat lite fick vi veta att han och min pappa båda är medlemmar i La Chaine. Jättekul!

En av höjdpunkterna på vår resa till Turkiet var vår sista måltid, frukost på Roof Mezzepotamia. Vi var gäster på Orient Occident och ville njuta av en härlig utsikt. Utsikten är spektakulär eftersom du kan se även Galata Tower samt många hustak av dekorativa moskéer. Vad som var oväntat var den anmärkningsvärda kvaliteten och presentationen av vår läckra frukost. Lika imponerande var vår underbara manager, Soner, och servitörer Burak och Fulham som gav utsökta detaljer om min turkiska frukost, en måltid jag kommer att minnas resten om mitt liv. Vår värdinna, Eda var också så snäll för att ordna ett bord för oss precis vid fönstret med extraordinär utsikt. Jag var också så uppskattande att de ordnade en yoghurt och frukt sortiment för min fru som inte ens fanns med på menyn. Kort sagt, Roof Mezzepotamia förkroppsligar allt som vi har älskat med Turkiet, varma och kärleksfulla människor, den mest utsökta maten i världen och fantastisk arkitektur. Allt som saknas är katterna!

Vilken otrolig upplevelse på Marrott Groups Autograph Collection hotel - Orient Occident Hotels takbar som heter Roof Mezzepotamia. Fantastisk utsikt, mat, dryck och service. Utsikten över Istanbul och Bosporensundet var fantastisk. Sous Chef Gǔner utmärkte sig i att göra varje munfull dans på våra paletter. Det är fantastiskt hur de bästa kockarna gör det. Vi åt Gambilia Fava (kronärtskockshjärtan i en sås) , Muammara (pistasch, valnötter, tahini) Yum! , Hummus med kryddad beacon & torkad aprikos, Atom (briljant kryddig 3 sorters yoghurt) och specialgjort - från - scratchkocksmör som var så gott. Kvitten för öken var fantastisk. Bayram Endes var bartender och serverade lyckligtvis vårt bord. Bayram var otrolig. Hans service var passande för en Michelinrestaurang. Han har en så fantastisk framtid på internationella hotell. Han gjorde två underbara drinkar - en rom - baserade den andra gin som han uppfann. Fantastiskt! Hans tjänst var extraordinär, vilket gör kvällen en mycket speciell. Tack så mycket Bayram, Chef Gǔner och Marriott Group för en fantastisk upplevelse.
