We had a good time at the Crazy Bear Beaconsfield.
The room was lovely, the decor is amazing. We loved it!
Unfortunately we were disappointed with a few things.
The air conditioning didn't work in our room (room 21).
The bathroom floor was slippery and very dangerous, especially after using the shower.
We found our room absolutely reeking of cannabis when we returned after our evening out - we did have the window open as air con didn't work.
The pool and jacuzzi was approx 5/6 degrees, so we didn't end up getting in.
We weren't the only ones who found it unusable.
Also we were surprised the toast isn't included with the breakfast considering the cost.
The meal was overpriced especially as it was very minimal. Most of us left and bought food elsewhere. The drinks were double the prices of other local restaurants/pubs.
I don't think we will return. But was definitely an experience.

Went for dinner in the English restaurant. The food was very tasty however part of our meal was forgotten and didn’t come out until we had all finished. The service was very average, not a single person asked if our meal was okay. We had to call staff over to order more drinks. Extortionate service charge then added to our meal.
No knew cutlery was given and no steak knife’s.
The decor in the restaurant is lovely and over all has a great vibe.
Unfortunately wasn’t worth the price so wouldn’t go back.

The crazy bear has potential to be a very unique and glamorous hotel, unfortunately this wasn’t the case for our stay

The driving point for us staying at this hotel was the bath in the room. Our first room whilst the aesthetic was lovely, the bath couldn’t hold water and would drain on its own

The lady at reception was very helpful and apologetic and changed our room. Unfortunately this room was extremely dated and almost looked like an old B&B. The wallpaper was peeling, the light flickered on and off and the bathroom was very tired. The bath in this room rather than held water we now couldn’t let the water out which resulted in a member of staff forcing it open with a hammer. The issue persisted following this until which point we decided to not use the bath all together making the stay relatively pointless.

Whilst some rooms are as described there are many which required a lot of attention considering it’s a 5 star hotel especially if charging near £300 a night for a room

We were very disappointed with our third Sunday lunch with you. We brought some friends for the first time and have the following comments....

We booked a table for 2pm and arrived early for a drink only to then wait over 45 minutes for our table to be ready at 2.45pm.

Our starters were fine but the main courses was supplied luke warm on cold plates with very small portions. None of the dishes we considered to be value for money.

The Sunday lunch was less that 1 roast potato cut  into 3 small bits, only a fork full each. The meat was 3 slices cut far to thin. Two bits of carrot about 1 inch long.

We asked for extra potato's and were then charged at £1 for again 1 potato cut into four pieces.

The fish & chips was sent back due to being a very salty batter. We asked for sauces which arrived after we had finished eating 10 minutes later.

The staff were very friendly although very young and possibly could do with some more training ?

On our previous visits we left thinking your venue represented good value for the charges, however not on this occasion !

Went to the British restaurant for dinner with a group of 9. In a word it was shambolic. Even before we got to the venue they had confused us all by sending out set menus that we needed to order 3 courses from - both a November one and a festive one. Then on the day of the booking they told the organiser we all had to order off the same menu. The options were very limited with one meat option, one fish option and a veggie option for starter and main.
When we got there we were presented with a la carte menus. When I questioned that we had already provided our orders they dismissed it and said we could order 3 courses from this menu. There were still very limited options with maybe 2 fish, 2 meat and one veggie option.
Once we ordered our food we weren't given any drinks menus, they provided water but took the bottles away. I didn't realise H2O was rationed! We ordered wine that never showed up. One person in our group ordered the veggie main, which ended up being 2 tiny pieces of butternut squash on some butternut baby food puree. See photo. She did complain and then they offered to make her pasta that was identical to her starter.
Our desserts came out three hours after our table booking time, the service simply dragged unnecessarily given the tiny menu.
They cocked the bill up at the end too just for measure.
And the couple behind us had a grovelling apology by one of the staff members for their own experience.
You can tell a lot by a place by how you're greeted and you simply aren't here.
I don't think they have enough staff and the ones they do have range from vaguely competent to completely disinterested.
What a shame. This place used to be good. I won't risk a return.
