Visited on a Saturday night on a short trip to Bristol, having visited the Little French on a prior visit and loving it. The decor here is a little less 'cosy', a bit fresher perhaps. The service was unobtrusive and efficient. The food was lovely. We had jamon iberico , whipped cods roe with radishes (this would have been easier to eat if they hadn't cut the radishes up so we could have dipped them in , but I'm nitpicking). Main courses were pork schnitzel and ricotta gnudi with roasted delica pumpkin. The schnitzel was very good and so was the gnudi but the pumpkin was weirdly quite dry so I could have done with a bit more of the brown butter sauce. Very tasty though. The vegetable side dishes were great, especially the hispi cabbage.  Unfortunately we were too full for pudding.

Ordered the Potato Beignet as bar snack. Looks like too much Parmigiano but it isn't. Fried Lamb Sweet breads. Pigeon Breasts and roast rosemary potatoes with a Kale, pine nuts and yoghurt side. The Marmalade Steamed sponge pudding. All excellent food with friendly service. Only two problems with the restaurant. One can be resolved by driving there but if you do end up walking up Constitution hill, not to be attempted in icy conditions, the food is well worth it. The other is a plus rather than a negative and can be resolved by adding a random number app to your phone or sticking to struggling to decide which of the starters you want as I could have picked the Roast scallops, white onion soup or Lobster Ravioli , all of which sounded delicious, before finally settling on the Fried Lamb sweet breads as I like offal. Mains was easier as I was debating between the pork belly or pigeon. The next table had pigeon delivered while I was choosing and you get a lot of pigeon plus I like game.

The food was fantastic, the flavour was superb and cooked to perfection! Really lovely staff and cozy atmosphere. Even the house red wine was bursting with flavour. Really recommend coming here

We four mates had a fabulous Saturday dinner. It’s a friendly, welcoming neighbourhood restaurant, the menu is interesting and varied, and the cooking was faultless. I had lamb sweetbreads, and had to ask nicely for some bread to mop up the fabulous sauce, whilst my ox cheek main course just melted at the first sight of a fork. Two had blood orange sorbet for dessert, which was sublime. Service was friendly and super professional. We’ll definitely be back.

A perfect evening at 1 York Place. Me and my partner went last night to celebrate our 7 year anniversary and I’m extremely glad we chose to come here. Chris was our waiter and he was absolutely lovely, every dish was delicious and cooked perfectly and the wine was lovely too. Highly recommend. Whipped cod’s roe, onglet and hake were the highlights but everything was beautiful :)
