Very much enjoyed almost every dish. Highlight was the bread which had a very pillowy texture. The meat- beef skewers and coffee rubbed chicken were nicely cooked- tender and flavourful. The cauliflower and broccolini were also well done. The pumpkin was the only dish that didn’t quite make the mark.

SO bummed that this place fell short for us considering how much we love the original Barbary in Neal’s Yard. Notting Hill isn’t known for cheap grub, but somehow we managed to spend 100£ and still left hungry and underwhelmed. The starters were hit and miss, the flatbread was very mediocre, the artichoke was good flavor-wise but was absolutely drowning in oil. The beans and whipped feta weren’t terrible, but felt dry and greasy at the same time. The tartar on the other hand was really lovely - defintiely my favorite dish of the night. The fish was soft but lacked flavor and the sauce that tasted like pretty much nothing didn’t exactly help. So much for food, and while I do think the restaurant is beautiful in terms of design and location, both food and service really didn’t live up to London / Notting hill standards at that price point. We felt rushed by the waiter, yet in the beginning he was unable to take orders until my guest had arrived - just very odd overall. It should be mentioned that some of the tables are unacceptably close together - I was sitting by the corner, but had we gotten the table next to us getting out / up would’ve essentially not been possible at all. Appreciate wanting to maximize capacity, however it is at the cost of the diner who is already overpaying at this establishment. Not sure if this was just an off day for them or whether it’s always like this - but especially when compared to their original location this new opening needs lots of work. Maybe it’ll be worth revisiting at some point when they’ve figured out food and service, just not for now.

I understand the mixed reviews. To be very clear they do not accommodate for locals/walk-ins, so forget whatever you've read and the Host did confirm this on the phone. Yes, the tables are so close together it is uncomfortable, you basically get a lap dance anytime the strangers next to you get up. Yes, I get where folks are coming from on the Host and his attitude. Our server however was lovely. The cocktails are ok, the wine is all on the high side. Yes, the food is expensive and there are some items worth it, others I agree are not. It will be interesting to see if they survive as that section of WBG is notorious for places not making it much beyond 12 months without solid local support, and The Barbary doesn't seem to be gearing itself in that direction. Try the pork chop.

The food is good, though the higher prices don’t quite match the quality—it’s more about the cool factor here. Still, worth a visit for the experience and setting!
