We stayed here for their 4 chef tasting menu event.
Beautiful building and grounds, fabulous meal.
All the staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, they make you feel very welcome, the atmosphere is relaxed and not at all pretentious.

This is one of the sister hotels to The Grove at Narberth (our favourite place  to stay) so we had to try this, we were not disappointed and will definitely visit again.

The Penmaenuchaf experience was faultless. From the minute we walked through the door, greeted by Claire to the minute we left, everything was perfect. All staff were extremely efficient. The food was spectacular. Our room was beautifully decorated, and the cleanliness was excellent. We will be returning to stay again in June 2025. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay a memorable one.

Having stayed at this hotels 'sister' hotel 'The Grove' in Narberth only a few weeks earlier, I expected a similar amazing experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case whilst staying at Penmaenuchaf Hotel. On arrival, the hotel appeared empty and lifeless. There were no fires burning, and the 'Welcome' was rather muted. We had booked for 2 nights and was shown the Eryri room, which was very comfortable and well appointed. At The Grove, there was a complimentary small box of chocolates and a small selection of beers and wine in the fridge (included in the room price). This was not the case at Penmaenuchaf, although there were two small plain biscuits in a glass jar. Also, 2 cans of water in the fridge as well as tea and coffee.
We had booked the a la carte meal, which was a set price of £75.00 each (not including drinks). The menu was rather restricted. the mains was a selection of either 2 fish dishes or lamb or venison. The dessert was only four items as well, whereas at The Grove, the menu was extensive and the food amazing. There was only one other couple enjoying dinner. We stayed the first night and explored the local area the next day and decided to book an evening meal in the local town as we were so disappointed with the previous evening meal. We actually just wanted to go home as the hotel was so devoid of any life. When we asked for a fire to be lit, there was a problem with the flue apparently, so it  couldn't be lit.
Reluctantly, as we were so exhausted, we decided to have a 'lounge meal' eating from a coffee table and had steak and fries. This was better, but not ideal. We stayed another night and had breakfast, which was good (thank goodness), and spoke to the manager on checking out voicing our concerns. She graciously offered to reduce the   £800> bill, though we explained it wasn't about that, but that we were so bitterly disappointed by the 2 night stay. This may seem 'petty', but the cleaner who did not have uniform and I was confused if he was actually 'staff' (but he was) as he was just standing  near to cleaning equipment looking at his phone for contacts and photos of chickens???On the way to breakfast, he was looking at his phone  in the corridor and after about an hour later on returning from breakfasg he was still on his phone looking at contacts...He also left various items of cleaning equipment in the room we were staying in, so to be honest not happy. We will not stay here again unless there is a parallel in the food, service, and overall 'friendliness' of the hotel in general. It is not a 'cheap' stay by any means and falls far, far below that of The Grove in Narberth. It is such a shame as the location and look of the hotel is outstanding. The staff at The Grove were so welcoming, and we were made to feel special.This was not the case at Penmaenuchaf. I mentioned that the stay was a special occasion being our wedding anniversary. This fell on deaf ears and not even a mutter of 'Happy Anniversary', I might as well have said nothing..It's such a shame...

A great place to explore from. Very welcoming staff, comfortable rooms, beautiful gardens. The food is exceptionally good and I could write an entire review about each meal we had. We stayed 3 nights and had the bar menu (fillet steak cooked to perfection), the tasting menu, and à la carte. Each was different and perfect. Breakfasts were also delicious. The chef alone (Tom Hine) is worth the trip and I look forward to coming back!

Had a fantastic dining experience here with the family on Sunday for lunch 28/07/24. The surroundings are beautiful and the staff  were very welcoming and attentive, we even had our own dog friendly dining room ,the food and service was excellent thankyou for looking after us 🤩
