We were fortunate to find a table available when we wandered in for a late lunch. There is a superb prix fixe lunch menu at a very affordable price (so affordable, we couldn't resist spending several times as much on a wonderful Corton Charlemagne, the perfect accompaniment). 

I selected a cassoulet of squid and smoked mussels as my starter. It was richly flavored without being excessively buttery, although there was certainly plenty of that on the wonderful toast served with it.

For my main I had the mackerel. This is a dish for true fish lovers, as it's of course quite fishy, but was not at all oily, just moist, and with a perfectly crisped skin. The accompanying beets were luscious.

A wonderful cheese trolley capped off a delightful meal. Professional yet friendly service increased our enjoyment, making us feel particularly lucky to have been squeezed in without a booking. 

Highly recommended as a dressy, sophisticated retreat from the tourist-choked streets outside!

We arrived early for our dinner last Wednesday so it seemed rude not to wander upstairs to the bar and kill some time with a couple of cocktails. Evidently we were not the only folk to have had this idea as the room was fairly packed with only a couple of tables to spare.

It's a nice stylish room with an old school "clubby" feel to it; leather sofas, comfy chairs, vintage cocktail books and pieces of antique drinking paraphernalia - all in all a classic toffs Westminster bar. The cocktail list was more of a novella than War and Peace with plenty of interesting combinations. Service was efficient and friendly and before long I was sipping on a stunning 3 Generations (based on a trio of Johnnie Walker whiskey) while B was luxuriating in the signature Pembury Cup.After our drinks, which came with a tasty little spoonful of Shepard's pie and a prawn mousse, we were in fine fettle and ready to tackle the menu.

The restaurant consists of two rooms; the first is slightly larger and a touch more grand than the smaller room which is off to one side (in my mind this second room had a touch of the"breakfast room" about it). It's not quite as ornate as La Gavrouche but there is plenty of space between the tables, starched white linen and cutlery by David Mellor - very grown up but not overly fussy. On this visit the other punters were in the main cosy couples with a few groups of four dotted about; a nice atmosphere with lots of happy chatter. It seemed to be a city boy free zone.

A decent selection of bread and some water, filtered in a nice bottle at no charge, arrived while I was still going through the wine menu. Unlike many "high end" London restaurants there was plenty of choice without having to take out a second mortgage. I think there was an entry level bottle at £20 with some pretty decent white and red around £30.

We were dining from the tasting menu and throughout the evening we had a very fine selection of dishes; all skilfully executed, beautifully presented and just the right size of portion (plenty to get your teeth into but no so much that you feel bloated by the end of your seven course feast). Stand outs were the ballotine of confit of wild rabbit with a mushroom salad and truffle cream, the very tasty sardines on toast which came with a caponata dressing and the roast gunard with a ragout of violet artichoke, courgette and oyster mushroom.

The waiting staff, of which there are many, are friendly and attentive. You will be served your meal at a gentle but fairly constant pace; not too rushed and no long waits between courses on our visit. By the time we had got to coffee and petite fours a very pleasurable evening had slipped through our fingers and it was time to get the last train home.

Went for lunch with 2 chums. The restaurant is inside the RICS building with a street entrance of it's own, on the corner of Parliament Sq & Great George St.


 We were immediately made welcome and felt it was a friendly place. The building is laid out as a grand residence and the restaurant consists of several rooms in it, with well spaced tables.
We chose dishes from the good value set lunch menu, and wine by the glass from the list.


 Everything I ate was top class, particularly my fish which was cooked just as I like it it, done but not transparent....and it was good to eat too. The wine by the glass was modest but quality stuff and was very well chosen so we were able to enjoy without having a money man in the group.


 Will be going again.

Roux at Parliament Square is located in the stunning Royal Institute of Charter Surveyors building on Great George Street, just off Parliament Square. The Pembury Bar is upstairs from the main restaurant which is where we ate. It's named after Pembury in Kent where Michel Roux Jnr was born. It's a sophisticated venue which offers drinks and a "light menu". I chose it for dinner because I'm a big fan of the Roux dynasty and because they have an amazing set menu which offers 2 courses for £16, 3 courses for £19 and, if you book online, 3 courses and a glass of wine for £22!

The menu offered three choices per course which is pretty standard. Between us, my three companions and I had a good selection of all the courses. We tried two of the starters and mains and all three of the desserts.

For the starter, I had Ratte Potato. This was a potato velouté with cubes of Mangalitsa black pudding and croutons and garnished with three cornered garlic. Silky smooth potato with amazingly crunchy croutons and rich black pudding. It was finished with a drizzle of olive oil. Delicious.

One of my friends had the smoked cured beef. The dish was essentially a very posh bruschetta with thinly sliced pieces of smoked cured beef layed delicately on the top. I'm assured it was very good.

For the main course, three of us chose the confit duck leg with cavolo nero and haricot beans. This was some of the very best duck I'd ever had. It was crispy skinned and the meat was succulent and not at all dry, thanks to being cooked in fat. The cabbage was well cooked and the haricot beans were just the right side of firm. The other member of my group opted for the fish pie which looked fantastic. He said it was the best mash potato on the top and the sauce and fish were excellent.

For the dessert, we had all 3 of the options between 4 of us. Desserts called Raw Cacao, Pistachio financier and Salted Caramel Tart. The financier was a lovely ring of pistachio sponge with pieces of different types of pear, roasted pistachios and a quinelle of ice cream. It was fantastic. I enjoy pears very much as this took them to another level. The salted caramel tart was silky smooth, slightly salty with a scorched sugar top, ice cream, a crumble on the side and a very small spot of marmalade which I'm told was one of the best things on the plate. The raw cacao was a layered dessert with a chocolate and peanut butter. I can't tell you too much about it to be honest as it wasn't on my friends plate long enough!

We had a great evening at The Pembury Bar. It's a beautiful venue with a really relaxed atmosphere which anyone can enjoy. They've done an excellent of making it accessible. I hope to return and try the main restaurant at some time in the future.

My sister bought a Groupon voucher for a three-course dinner and we treated our mum. It was a great offer and we had a lovely meal. I didn't feel like the restaurant "held back" on the quality of the food just because we bought a special offer, which some places can do. Beautifully presented, great flavours and service. On top of that, Theresa May was dining there too (the restaurant is right by Westminister)!

I was taken here for a business lunch as according to my host "there is nothing in the neighborhood besides this place".  My host was keen to point out what he considered to be late 90s decor.  This is an endeavor of Michel Roux Jr. of Le Gavroche.

The lunch was rather pricey if I recall--I think we were looking at two courses costing £45.  I was not overly impressed with the options and ended up with pigeon, which was nice but was overly done up in the presentation and little bits of things.  The chef was definitely trying too hard.

The menu tries to be creative and innovative, but I just didn't get the appeal, and although I won't be as harsh as my host, I can't say I was thrilled with the decor or atmosphere.

We visited this restaurant with a Groupon voucher for a 6 course tasting menu. The first thing that really stands out about this restaurant is the service, which I cannot rate highly enough. Waiting staff were extremely friendly, efficient, and attentive throughout the evening. We never had to wait long between courses, and equally never felt rushed. This is a big contrast to some of my other experiences of dining with Groupon vouchers at other restaurants (not sure if this is because some of the other restaurants were relatively new, or because they prioritise full-paying guests).

The food was also exceptional - each dish was carefully presented, beautifully cooked, and full of flavour. We asked for wine recommendations, and the wines we ordered went very well with the food.

We started the menu with pickled mushrooms and potato foam, which is not something I've had before or that I'd have ever chosen to order. I am very glad that this menu gave me the opportunity to try this dish, the flavours were wonderfully balanced with the acidity of the pickled mushrooms cutting through the rich creaminess of the potato.

Next came prawn tortellini with roast langoustine and consommé. This was perhaps my favourite course, the langoustine was lovely and sweet, plump, and juicy and the consommé had a great depth of flavour. This was followed by asparagus with crispy egg, and toasted walnuts and pine nuts. I thought this was a very clever dish, with a lot of components that complimented each other perfectly. 

The last two savoury dishes continued to impress us, with cod (perfectly cooked, with crispy skin) on spelt risotto and fennel followed by lamb cooked two ways. The fillet was pink and tender, and the belly was slow cooked. The lamb was served with jersey potatos and a lovely smokey tomato, which went well with the fattiness of the lamb belly.

We ended the tasting menu with a tangy buttermilk panna cotta followed by a creamy lemon dessert, with squares of tart passionfruit jelly and a crisp, sweet, caramelised pastry disc. My boyfriend wanted an espresso, which was accompanied by some lovely little petit fours that we shared. I was expecting to be charged for this, so was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be complimentary.

Another thing I liked about the restaurant was that when it came to the bill they didn't automatically add on service charge on the full price of the food. In this case, the service was faultless so I was more than happy to pay this, but I do think that service charge should be discretionary and up to the customer rather than added onto the bill.

Firstly I'd like to mention that the food was great,  there was plenty of extra little touches from breads and compound butters,  canapés,  petit fortes and a lovely birthday dessert compliments of the house. Obviously skilled chefs work in the kitchen and all the food we completely enjoyed although I wouldn't say there was anything innovative... But that's not what this Roux restaurant is about. 

The service staff were genuinely friendly and accommodating and we never felt forgotten or second best. 

We left feeling like we had a fairly priced meal and experience with no regrets. But we won't go back... 

So why three stars?? This place feels stagnant.... The single dining room feels like a board room or tea room with some candles,  tables and chairs thrown in. It feels stuffy uninviting and Chef Roux should be embarrassed to seat people in it. To make things worst it a had very strong smell... A seafood smell.... Not very appealing for a hungry punter. 

The "foyer"  close to entrance is a reception desk in a hall way leading into what feels like a single rented room in a office block.... It never felt like a real dining area. It doesn't own the building with the name on the front..... Let's not kid ourselves..... It's truly unexciting. Boring. 

I'd think it could be a good lunch time destination due to its location.... Perfect for a business lunch.... But dinner for two.... Or more.... No.... There's better options for dinner. Keep looking.

Michelin star restaurant for sure!  What a wonderful experience.  We loved the old elegance yet relaxing atmosphere.  My husband didn't have to wear a tie.   Our experience was impeccable  in every way .  We were treated like royals and made to feel welcomed and appreciated.  We chose the three course prix fix which was superb.  Our compliments to the chef.  Each bite was flavorful and surprising but nothing overpowering.  It was heavenly.  The chef sent over so many extras that we had many more courses.   Everything was delicious.  
I highly recommend this restaurant.  We dined at chiltern  firehouse the evening before which was delicious and a lot of fun ( and they rushed us) . But this was a very lovely quiet, elegant, fine dining experience.  Excellent service and superb sommelier.  I would give it ten stars if I could! So happy we celebrated our 30 th anniversary here!
