Gourmet Burger Kitchen: A Haven for Burger Lovers in Notting Hill

Probably the best sweet potato fries I've ever had! They are served with "baconaise". I also had the bourbon burger. It was amazing! I enjoy spicy food and this burger did not disappoint. Located in the hipster part of London, Notting Hill. Great atmosphere as well.

Basic burger joint right on Portobello Rd. Service is nice, friendly and helpful.
Cheeseburger was fabulous: well toasted sesame paddy, juicy meat cooked to perfection, flavourful melted cheddar all topped with a mix of sauces, slightly roasted flavour. 
Coke in glass bottle was the extra touch.
I really enjoyed and will be back.

This cute place caught our attention while walking around Portabello Market. It was a little early for lunch so we were the only customers at that time. Service was fast and the two people who assisted us were very friendly and accommodating. We loved the burger and skinny fries! My chicken sandwich was good although I'm used to having breaded chicken sandwiches so this was a bit different. They also had cute little ketchup dispensers :)

Not quite as good as some of the delish burger joints we have here in the US, but a generously sized, well flavored burger! 

While on holiday in the UK we were trying to avoid chain-type restaurants but, being in the mood for a burger and a short scan of the menu, we decided to try it out. 

I chose the Avocado Bacon Burger with skinny fries. Fluffy sesame seed bun, 100% beef, chunks of avocado, thick & crispy bacon, a bit too much mayo (I'm not a fan of mayo and it was oozing out of the burger, scraped a good amount off the bun) and a yummy sweet/sour relish. 

A good burger, but I would have preferred sliced avocado over chunks. Avocados are pretty slippery and the chunks kept spilling out. Also, the meat was kind of "chewy"? Perhaps too well done. I like my meats medium/well to well done but the texture still remains tender, this one had a slight chewiness to it. The skinny fries, are skinny. They're what I know as shoestring potatoes. Super skinny, crispy and golden..closer to a chip (or crisp). 

Service was friendly and prompt. You chose your table and are provided a menu. Your order is placed at the back counter and your order is delivered to your table. Carafes of water and cups are available to take near the back counter along with a couple of their house sauces. 

Overall good experience, pretty standard chain fare.

For all of those who believe it's more about the size of the ship than the motion in the ocean, head to GBK. You will most certainly receive the biggest, baddest, most delicious looking burger you've ever seen. They're nearly too large to put your mouth around, and not just in the "that's what she said" sense - they're big and majestic and awesome... to look at. 

Taste-wise, they're just your average burger that you'll drop a tenner on. And then you'll pick up your sides for an additional quid or two. Sure, it's great to eat, but I'd almost rather just enjoy looking at it in its massive stacked glory.

We're big fans of GBK. We came to this branch some time last year and it was a mess. Terrible service. Fries came about half an hour after the burger etc... We fled, vowing never to return.

Yesterday, we broke our vow and gave it another try. Sooooo gooood! We both had the Buffalo Cheese Burger... as good a burger as I've ever had in London and we tried the new very thin fries, just £1! (with a burger) FANTASTIC! and had the classic fries in case we hated the new ones, they were great too, very hot, crisp, chunky and tasty.

The place was buzzing, even at 3:30 in the afternoon. The service was great, very friendly and very efficient.

Nothing was overly appealing about GBK. It's a chain (like everything in London). The interior is a bit dark. I got the classic burger which was good in size, but really simple. Those small fries things are exactly what they say they are. For the price it probably wasn't worth it.

The service was very good though. They're very on top of everything. I got asked about 5 times if everything was satisfactory. Expensive.

Right, I really like GBK and I used to visit the Portobello one quite often, because its like 5 mins away from mine.
Last time I went I was extremely disappointed. 

It seems, since they re-done the whole place, they have new people working there as well. The staff was incredibly bored and rude, the water was warm and the mint leaves in the water bottle were covered in black, yucky spots. 
Some of them looked like plant mites. I actually took one of the leaves out to see whats going on! I rubbed the spots and they all came off- makes me think they don't even wash the mint before chucking it in the bottles. 
So ...I just got a coke instead... but again the glasses were dirty and the cutlery was sticky. 

I really don't understand.
