Absolutely  amazing food, very welcoming and so kind. Always taking unused plates away and never leaving them to clutter on the table. The food is so fresh amd hot. So reasonable priced and will definitely  come back . Have recommended to all my family.  The korma is the best ive ever had. 5 ***

Good location (steps from hotel) and minutes from Borough Market. Great service  and ambiance, biryani and samosas were delicious!

THE GOOD:
First, our server, Madhani, is a joy. A true joy. The place is cute and off the beaten path, far from the tourists. I also like the "bring your own beer." Food quality was also good.

THE BAD:
Now on to the food. Disclaimer: I am not sure if the more "local" Indian places like this are watered down due to an English palate that expects a blander experience, but the food lacked flavor. It was not lacking a little, but a lot. It's a shame because we love discovering local places. We left full, but this didn't even taste Indian.

Can not recommend this place. The waiter was very rude and the service really not good. We had the impression that he does not like to be talked to and we're really careful addressing him and asking for things (like the menu, ...). I also do not think that place is clean or hygienic at all. For example. We had some chutneys at the beginning, they clearly reused them. We actually saw that happening... some folks from the neighboring table had them as well but then got up and left after 2-3 minutes. The waiter just took them and gave the same ones to another table that had just arrived... overall the food was ok, nothing special. The mango lassi was water with some lasso in it. The tikka was ok, not spicy though even though I specifically asked for spicy... overall not a great place.

Not the most impressive experience with Simply Indian. My masters program booked a large dinner party here on a Thursday night and we were not very satisfied with the food or service. While we had an awesome evening, not much of that was attributed to the restaurant. Simply Indian's very cramped and it seems like they were forcing availability where there isn't any. We had almost 30 people in the restaurant and the employees were still trying to seat other people when they really should have reserved the restaurant for just our party. 

The biggest issue was the pricing however. It was almost £25 for a very small curry, palm-sized portion of rice, and a dismal lental side. Other sides were promised but never delivered. It just seemed absolutely ridiculous the pay that much for hardly any food. 

The service overall was pretty good and they tried to be accommodating, but I was expecting a lot more.

My friends and I stopped by Simply Indian on vacation after hearing great things about the Indian food on offer in London. We were seated quickly upon entering the establishment, but the table next to us was filled with drunk, extremely loud patrons, at least ten or twelve. Their table was filled with empty bottles of booze and they were yelling, singing, and blasting music out of a shitty Bluetooth speaker placed on the table. By far the worst restaurant patrons I've ever seen anywhere. It's not SI's fault at all, but I really need to vent after such a shocking display of contempt for others. Luckily they left afer about fifteen minutes, but it was a painful time while it lasted.

Anyway. We quickly got our papadum after sitting down and it, and especially the sauces with which it was served, were amazing. The salsa (whose name I do not know) was phenomenal, and the chutney was better than any other I've ever had. But once receiving it, we were left hanging for a good ten or fifteen minutes before our orders were taken. We were considering leaving, but our food came out only five minutes later, and it was well worth the wait. I got chicken biryani, probably my favorite Indian dish, and it beat even the delicious biryani found in my local Indian place back home.

A friend got the Southern Thali and I think he won the night. The assortment of food that came with it was broad, and all of it was yummy. A little spicier than I was prepared for, but it was overall well-balanced and left me wanting a portion of my own.

The table also got some jhalfrezi. I'd never heard of the dish before, but the description sounded appetizing so we took a chance and, lo and behold, it was wonderful. Again, spicier than I was expecting, but it was something fundamentally different than Indian food I was familiar with. I've never noticed it on any menu before, but I'll be sure to look for it when I get back home!

We were surprised with a dessert menu and, at a friend's strong suggestion, got the carrot fudge with mango ice cream. Fantastic decision. At risk of sounding repetitive, it was something totally new to me and borderline indescribable. It tasted carrot-like, but smoother and sweeter. I'll echo that recommendation. Just get it. Our waiter actually brought one out without even taking our order, he was that sure we'd like it!

Afterwards, he came out again and had a chat about the chef's background and the philosophy of the food he had prepared for us.

Overall, despite the rocky start to the night, the food and service were phenomenal. It's sort of hidden in a back corner, but if you find yourself in the neighborhood, Simple Indian is absolutely worth a visit.

Under pressure from the owner, I was asked to leave a review. Normally I refuse to leave a negative review like this, but since he insisted, I suppose I must. 

I always like to start with 5 stars. But this place... ugh! 

-1 for ambience and terrible seating. The chairs were old and felt like we might fall through. The old music didn't match the Indian theme. And the lighting is awful! 

-1 for the waiter who had no idea what was on the menu or anything about it. 

-1 for the aggressive owner who thrust his card with TripAdvisor, Yelp, and Facebook and insisted we give him a good review. 

-1 for the owner offering 10 percent off your bill through yelp for checking in. But when we went to use it he asked "Did you leave a review??" When I answered Yes, he demanded to see my phone and read the review.  It was very confrontational. 

-1 for not giving us the 10 percent off after we had to ask for it again. Giving us 5% off and thinking we wouldn't check his math. 

Sadly, there isn't a 0 stars. 

I wanted to like this place. We walked for 45 minutes to get there. But I just couldn't. The food wasn't that great.

We unfortunately didn't get to eat here. It's says they are open from 12:30 to 2 everyday, but we got there around 1 and they were closed. Please change your sign!!

We enjoyed our meal at Simply Indian.  I am not well versed on Indian food however the food was tasty and the bill was very reasonable.  The table next to us were allowed to bring their own bottle of wine which is a thoughtful gesture on behalf of the owners.  I don't believe there is a corking fee.

I am looking forward to trying more Indian dishes at Simply Indian.

My family and I are staying across the street, and we were so lucky to find this little gem. It's on a small street, so we wouldn't have found it without looking up local eateries, so happy we did.
The food was flavorful, the service was superb, and it was such an inviting and calming atmosphere. A great place for dinner after 16 hours of traveling.
