Visiting London from Chicago and of COURSE we had to try some of the town's famous East Indian-Pakistani cuisine, but friends' recommendations were all for high-end and/or chain places. So we did some research. Somewhere along the line we found Meraz written up as one of the 12 best Indian restaurants in England. Okay, so we trek over to the East End (pretty wild neighborhood that we enjoyed) for dinner at Meraz. My husband was disappointed not to find a particular dish on the menu, but the waiter didn't hesitate to offer to have the kitchen whip it up special for him. My husband also went a little wild ordering all sorts of appetizers and side dishes.

Now I don't like to deal in hyperbole. A five star rating should be sufficient praise. But I'm going to go overboard just this once: BEST INDIAN FOOD I'VE EVER EATEN IN A RESTAURANT.

EVER.

I've eaten in Indian restaurants at home in Chicago, in L.A., New York, St.Louis, Atlanta, San Francisco, etc., etc. etc. Many have been good, but none approached this. We ate every scrap of all the food we ordered, and only because we had a tight timeline and a busy itinerary for our brief visit to London did we not go back for at least a second meal.

Went here tonight for dinner and it was all very good! Got the mix platter for the appetizer, all was good but the chicken tikka was the favorite. Also ordered chicken curry, chicken korma, lamb tikka biryani, garlic naan...all very tasty. Mango lassi was great too, one of the best I've had. My husband, I and our two sons thought it was very good. Our 11 year old is pretty picky and gave it a 10/10. The service was great too! Highly recommend.

The service was the best part besides the food. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful in navigating the menu and making sure we had everything we needed. The place was very nice and comfortable. The food was amazing. I came here for Bangladeshi food and they delivered! Super satisfied with the prices and food!

I was excited to try some Indian food while in London and this place didn't disappoint! I knew I wanted to have lamb and the waiter recommended one of their spicier dishes. I would definitely recommend ordering some sort of bread on the side. The lamb was very flavorful and I loved scooping the gravy up onto the bread. The portion sizes aren't too big, so I'd advise coming with a few people and splitting some dishes.

Great indian food just off Brick Lane.
Unfortunately they close on May 1 bank holiday so we had to go to Muhib nearby which was open and also was equally good.

If you are having one curry in London, you want to make sure you go to Meraz Cafe. Just a step away from the busy brick lane hustle and bustle, you will feel relaxed and well taken care of at Meraz cafe. The food is so fresh and delicious tasting. I have dined here with family and friends brought my babies. You will feel right at home. The Korma is my fav.  Excellent service. I forever find myself shifting in my seat as I eat saying this food is sooo good!! A must visit! Kara

First time in London and my friend took me to the best Indian restaurant! Amazing food, wonderful relaxed atmosphere and great customer service. I will be back for the delicious, authentic food.

Food was good not great. After being told that spice level was low, my daughter ate a hot pepper that made her cry. Server was truly unfriendly.

Excellent food. The daily special -roast lamb was the standout suggested by the host. Everyone was attentive and friendly. We will be back!!
