in the over-hyped food wasteland that is the chain-dominated Wimbledon Village, it's nice to see an independent restaurant. Bayee Village has been producing reliable, tasty Chinese food in Wimbledon for decades and there is a sister restaurant in Putney.

The decor is great, from the 2 stone lions guarding the entrance to the large fish tank and Chinese lanterns inside. You are also always assured of a warm welcome and better service than in many Chinatown restaurants.

The food is a mixture of Peking (north) and Szechuan (southwest) cuisine. The house speciality is seafood and if your budget can stretch, you won't be disappointed with the lobster and spring onion on a bed of crispy noodles, steamed whole sea bass with ginger and spring onion, kung po king prawns with sweet chilli sauce and garlic and soft shell crab with fresh chilli pepper and garlic salt. The other non seafood dishes are also good.

A good solid local Chinese restaurant.

Bayee's served me the best Chinese food I have ever had. I'm not a huge fan of Chinese food but this wasn't the typical greasy food I had come to expect of Chinese food. It was fresh, full of flavours and it even felt as though i was eating healthy food! I had a gorgeous aubergine dish that was gorgeous and their crispy duck was really tasty as well as their cashew nut dishes. We had some really nice wine here as well. 
The decor is quite strange, with a classic piano and aquarium in the restaurant but i guess it gave us something to look at while we waited...and we were waiting for quite a while...maybe this is a good sign as it made me think everything was being cooked freshly from scratch, otherwise they were just being really slow. The service of the waiters was a little on the slow side but luckily we weren't in a rush. The prices were all pretty reasonable as well. I will return if i'm in the area.

I am always amazed this place isn't busier, right in the heart of Wimbledon Village a sizeable and excellent quality Chinese restaurant.

The food is consistently brilliant, service is good although sometimes a little less than attentive. Decor is a little like a Chinese restaurant in an old bond movie, fish tanks, blue velour etc. The atmosphere is often quite quiet, I have been there several times and shared the huge dining space with less than 3 other tables.

Food to look out for, the duck with pancakes is very good, crispy shredded beef with chilli is amazing (although possibly a little sweet for some), the sweet and sour pork is superb.  They get the basics right.

We visited Bayee Village for the second time this weekend and thankfully we were early diners (7pm), as we hadn't booked and it was full-to-capacity by 8pm.


 The food was as wonderful as we'd expected - my partner rated his sweet & sour pork as the best he had ever eaten (not faint praise, he travels extensively) and my crispy beef was delicious with a light, tasty sauce with no hint of fake colourings added.


 Service was good, the rose wine was very more-ish and a nice, light accompaniment to the flavours of our chosen dishes.


 One thing could elevate this to a 5 for us - I was sat by a very cool air-con unit (shivering most of the way through the meal hehe) and the food dishes were not placed on warming plates, so by the time we'd gotten halfway through our meal, the rice, noodles and meat dishes were cold.

Excellent Chinese dishes, fits the bill. I wasn't a great fan of Chinese cuisine, but my wife is. So just went there for a weekend dinner. They just changed my views!!!! Try it , this place is great. Nice welcoming guys n ambience.

It is possibly good Chinese food in London, though not so traditional from the view of point as one Chinese. I would like to try again if I want to eat Chinese food again in Wimbledon.

I have just had a dinner with my family and food was awful. We ordered 5 dishes including lobster with noodle and it took less than 10 mins to have all the food on the table. Sweet and sour chicken was partly cold and I reckon they previously cooked and just reheated the food. And lobster noodle which was £34 was also overcooked so the meat was hard. We didn't feel the food was freshly cooked and definitely not worth the money. Well we won't come back for sure for this quality of food for that high end price.

Situated in the heart of Wimbledon village, this is the best Chinese restaurant that I have ever eaten at (comparing it to the best in Dubai, LA, and others in London). I have been eating at this restaurant for the last 15 years and would recommend it to anyone, whether it is for a business meeting, a family dinner or even a romantic date. Service is fantastic and price is not cheap but definitely not overpriced and worth it for what you are getting. To start with, I would definitely recommend the sesame prawn toast, spring rolls, and crispy aromatic duck with pancakes. Great main dishes include chicken in black bean sauce, sweet and sour chicken, sizzling beef, and crispy fried noodles with seafood. If you go around the time of the tennis, then you may find yourself sitting next to Boris Becker as we did. Absolutely amazing restaurant with a great atmosphere.
