A beautiful, peaceful stay - tucked away in the tranquil village of Greater Ouseburn, the Lime Tree Inn offers a perfect escape for some quality time away.

Surrounded by rolling countryside and steeped in local history, this inn was a wonderful place to unwind. My family is originally from Little Ouseburn, so while the primary purpose of our trip was connecting dots and branches on our family tree, we were impressed to find such a great place to stay.

It was calm and welcoming, the atmosphere was homely. It is clear that the pub is a beloved spot for the local community, as the afternoon turned to evening lots of locals turned up with family for drinks and catch-ups.

The Inn’s setting is ideal for those who appreciate quiet beauty. Greater Ouseburn and its neighbor, Little Ouseburn, are quaint and pretty and in the region you’re close to lots of cool history, if that’s your thing.

Strolling around the villages reveals charming old cottages, churches, bridges and peaceful country lanes.

At the Lime Tree Inn itself, the experience was friendly and well managed from start to finish.

Both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant were excellent—thoughtfully prepared, delicious, and special, served with genuine warmth.

The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and the dog-friendly policy was a huge plus for our family as we have a German Shepherd who loves when he can tag along places with us. There were a few dogs around so we were nervous, the staff were great and made sure us and the dog had everything we needed.

Whether you’re looking for a restful base to explore the area or simply want to enjoy good food in a peaceful setting, the Lime Tree Inn is an excellent choice.

A quiet, beautiful place we’ll definitely visit again. I’d go for the food alone, the food was terrific. The rooms were clean and quiet and we slept great. Can highly recommend.

We found this place on the Michelin guide. And wow. What an amazing find.

They stock Great Newsome beers. The one I had was extraordinarily frothy. Outstanding. Try it!

We had the pumpkin and coconut soup which was a fabulous hybrid of British and Thai flavours.

We also had the crispy duck with an amazingly creamy potato dauphinoise!

For dessert, the caramelised apple felt like a uniquely deconstructed apple crumble that was absolutely delicious.

My partner had the classic sticky toffee pudding and arguably it was the best we’ve ever had!

100% recommend this amazing restaurant if you’re in the area or in the UK even!

A huge thanks to the wonderful staff at the Lime Tree Inn. I had totally messed up and booked a table for the wrong date to celebrate my grandma’s 90th. But they went above and beyond to make it work, which I am incredibly grateful for. We had a delicious meal and my grandma was thrilled.

What a wonderful find. Very friendly welcome. Location perfect in between York & Ripon.
Peaceful area.
The room was perfect: large modern bathroom, with separate bath & double rain shower. Twin sinks.
Separate toilet room.
Bed was large and very comfy.
Variety of coffee & teas were offered with homemade biscuits.
The evening meal was like a mitchelin star restaurant. Amazing.
The breakfast was served to order. All homemade quality ingredients.
I will absolutely book this place to stay again. Fantastic.

absolutely gorgeous food. started with their bread which was very nice and so was the butter, everything homemade. then the ceaser salad with fries which SLAPPPEEEDDDD. omg so amazing the chicken was cooked perfectly and went down an absolute treat. finished off with the sticky toffee pudding with homemade ice cream which was also phenomenal. thoroughly enjoyed the meal and looking forward to returning!!
