We stayed here for the night before our daughter's wedding along with a few family and friends we had a delicious meal. The food was absolutely delicious and the rooms were all individually charming. We really felt spoiled. The breakfast the next morning was exactly what we needed to fuel us for the day. We're determined to return and spend more time there .

Stayed at The Bear on a weeknight for work reasons.  First impressions were very good,  nice big carpark and impressive outdoor seating area which would be lovely in the Summer but perhaps not so much in the snow. A staff member greeted me straight away, found my reservation and showed me to my room in the coach house just across the courtyard area. Room was quite small (very cozy, not cramped) and decorated to a very high standard with a very comfy bed and effective heating.  Bathroom in particular was exceptionally good. Location is quiet so no disturbances during the night. Joined colleagues for an evening meal and the food was excellent, reasonably priced given the quality, with the serving staff pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. Wine suggestions were provided with each dish which was a nice touch, but sadly I had to drive later, so couldn't partake of that. Breakfast was also fantastic  - could not fault it at all. Overall I was hugely impressed and The Bear is one of the best hotels I've stayed in on my travels and hope  to be able to go back either with work or privately.

This is a really excellent pub. It is still very much a local, as was evident by the number of people who were obviously from the village enjoying the pub.
The service and food was of the highest quality and standard. I savoured every mouthful and it is a meal that will set the bar for all other pub lunches.

I would just like to warn diners that if you like your red meat be careful what you order if it says...served pink (their description for raw cooked a bit on the outer!). I have recently had three different cuts of red meat (served pink) and each one has been awful to eat. Difficult to cut (no steak knives) and not at all easy to chew (masticate). Is it me or is it the new trend to serve red meat almost raw or is it my age?! Everything else is fine but just wanted to bring it to everyone's attention. It's a shame cus we really love this restaurant and staff! I have brought it to their attention but just get a "sorry" reply.
