Meanwhile, the main dining room provides a more traditional setting with lower tables where you can soak up the stunning seaside vistas while enjoying your meal. Both options deliver the same high-quality cuisine and welcoming vibe.

Tern opens new booking availability on the first of each month at 10am UK time, covering a rolling two-month period. To secure your place at this sought-after spot, early reservations are recommended, especially for special occasions. The restaurant welcomes groups and offers a delightful Sunday brunch service open to children of all ages, while the tasting menu is suited for guests aged 10 and above. Please note the venue is not wheelchair accessible due to its historic location.

What is the difference between the restaurant and the chef's counter?

 The chef's counter offers guests the opportunity to watch the chefs at work in the kitchen from the 'pass', seated on taller comfortable stools. The restaurant offers panoramic views of the Sussex coastline, seated at a lower dining table. The experience is the same for both the restaurant and the chef's counter.

 We release a new month of availability on the first of each month at 10am (UK time) for the period two months in advance. For example, December bookings will be available on October 1st.

Can you accommodate dietary requirements?

 Due to the nature of our menus, we are only able to cater for Vegan, Vegetarian, Pescatarian, and some severe allergies/food intolerances with prior notice. These cannot be guaranteed without prior arrangement of at least 48 hours before your reservation.

 We allow children of all ages for Brunch on Sundays (10:30-14:00), but do not allow children under 10 to dine for our Tasting Menu services (Thursday-Saturday, Lunch & Dinner). Children aged 10 or above are welcome, providing they are happy to enjoy one of our tasting or lunch menus.

 Unfortunately, we are not wheelchair accessible. We are located at the end of Worthing pier in a Grade 2 listed building and cannot install a lift; we are sorry that we are unable to accommodate this.

Loved the food, service and atmosphere the first time, we had to come back 6 weeks later. Had the chef's table experience and we spent a lot of time talking with the pastry chef and the other chefs joining in, including Johnny, which added to the enjoyment.

Beautiful food in every course, making the most of seasonal flavours. Stand out was the Monkfish with sweet corn and then the trio of pork (belly, cheek and fillet). But everything was outstanding.

Great cocktails and sparkling wine. Fantastic and engaging service with people who genuinely seemed to enjoy their role in the evening.

Can't wait to come back

The venue is lovely, the food delicious, the people couldn’t be kinder. We had a fabulous evening celebrating a birthday and I can’t fault this restaurant. Next time we will be Sunday brunch, which has had excellent reviews.

I was celebrating my birthday over here and it was fantastic choice!
The best meal we had in a while, beautiful views and lovely people working in there.
We will definitely return, there is not many restaurants around with this level of cooking!

Went for lunch and had the 5 course tasting menu which could not be faulted.  Dishes beautifully presented and even with the 5 course menu we didn't come away hungry.  Petit fours with coffee were wonderful. Beautiful day and the view back down the pier to Worthing was lovely.  Restaurant was quiet, and service good.

Had a lovely meal, last week, with clients. Table configuration for 6 of us was bizarre, though. 2 round tables, able to seat 4, pushed together. Made conversation, with everyone, rather difficult.

Food was fabulous, which is what you're there for, afterall. Enjoyed every morsel of the 7 course tasting menu. The wine pairing was also great. Absolute love the favt that they're all British wines. Have since purchased some Renegade Rosé, very nice. Attentive service, once it started, (we waited 45mins before service began) and all of the staff are very knowledgeable.

I would go back, but probably with my boyfriend, rather than a group. Very couple-y type place. It's very quiet in there

Tern Restaurant officially opened its doors in July 2023 under the visionary guidance of acclaimed chef Johnny Stanford. Situated elegantly at the end of Worthing Pier, the restaurant quickly gained acclaim for its sophisticated culinary approach and inviting atmosphere. However, just a few months into its journey, Tern faced a formidable obstacle when Worthing Pier was temporarily closed in October 2023 due to structural repairs.

In response to the pier's closure, Tern demonstrated adaptability and commitment to its patrons by relocating to the East Beach Café in nearby Littlehampton.
