So incredibly happy Nui is in my hood! I've been twice now and absolutely love the food. It's so comforting and tasty with so much umami! On a sunny day, I love their matcha slushy! On a rainy day, I love their Gomtang! Light broth with a delicious thinly shaved pork, we subbed the rice noodles in and loved! One of my favourite dishes is the mackerel, I've had it twice now and it hits every time. Other dishes I love - the seafood bowl - delicious salmon sashimi over rice. The potato salad is killer too! And I can't forget to mention the house made kimchi - spicy and delish! The service is excellent and I love the decor they've gone with - tons of wood and silver cutlery. I also like that the kitchen is wide open, you can watch chefs doin their thing! Great value too for what you get - we got four dishes and it was perfect to share for three. Absolutely love this spot and will be back again and again!

I'd been seeing this place on my social media and came here with a friend who enjoys gomtang (which I'd say seems to be Nui's signature feature). The space was cozy with dimmed lighting though I wish the seats were a bit more comfortable as they did not have any back support. We shared the gomtang ($23), potato salad ($12), and seafood pancake ($23) as well as trying some cocktails. I really enjoyed the gomtang, as it was the perfect warm soup for a rainy day, and it was gentle but rich at the same time. The server also explained that you can add some provided chili paste to adjust the spice level. My friend's surprise favourite turned out to be the potato salad which was very smooth with an almost mashed potato scoop texture so I'd recommend that as well! Unfortunately, the seafood pancake was quite disappointing as it was very greasy :( Cocktails were solid and were sweet, my yuzu one tasted exactly like the jars of citron tea you can get at the grocery store. Overall, I'd say if you haven't had gomtang and are looking for a small contemporary Korean spot, this is the place!

Nui is tucked away on a quieter stretch of Main St, so parking is actually manageable. The space itself is cozy, so I highly recommend making a reservation. I came here with friends on a weeknight, and we shared everything so we could try a bit of everything. The menu isn't very big. It is perfect for anyone who struggles with indecision. Portions are on the smaller side. My top picks are the Yook Hwe (raw beef), Gomtang, and Gweji Rice Bowl. The Gomtang is their signature dish and the broth is beautifully clear yet packed with deep flavor. The meat in the Gweji Rice Bowl and Pork Jowl Sooyuk are quite similar, so I'd suggest getting the rice bowl and choosing a different appetizer for variety. The only miss for me was the Seafood Rice Bowl. The salmon ceviche and roe leaned a bit too fishy for my taste.

Random night out at Nui without a reservation! We called ahead and the staff were super nice, trying to fit us in . The modern design caught my eye! We ordered Seafood Jeon ($23) - a seafood pancake loaded with Asian chives and shrimp, super crispy! And they merged with Western style topped with dill and Brasil! Vinegared mackerel ($19) with seaweed and wasabi, a nice combo to try!! Gomtang ($23), a soothing Asian soup with rich flavor and sliced pork! Good for both summer and winter!! Tried their matcha splash as dessert!! Rich matcha and best combination with oak milk~ love it!! Will come back again for sure!!

We reserved a table online. We got to the restaurant earlier. A server told us to give them a bit of time to clean up the table. We walked to a local market on the same street and then walked back to the restaurant. The table was ready. The menu has limited options. We ordered five items to share between two of us. All of them tasted excellent. It was not too salty or too plain. The portion was leaning towards a smaller size. It is a Korean restaurant but it's an upscale and elevated one. More for adults. I didn't see any kids. People come here to celebrate his or her birthday. Some meet up with friends and dine out and catch up. The service was great. Each of the servers was very polite. They would explain to customers about the menu or introduced the food or dishes to customers. They opened in March and now it is mid May. They still call it soft opening. When it is grand opening, I am hoping they will have more options on the menus. And of course I hope they will do well. One side note - there is background music and noise from the customers. Tables and chairs are very close to each other. We could hear the whole conservations from the tables that were next to us on left and right. When some customers talked or laughed very loudly, it was not pleasant. We had to raise our voice and volume in order to talk to each other.

Had a wonderful time solo dining at Nui after a friend reminded me they were soft opening. At the time of writing this, they have already been open for 2 weeks so far and they're booked and busy! Managed to walk in around 7:30pm and got a seat at the bar right away. I love the minimalist decor with all the silver and the impactful accent of the menu. The service here was fantastic and I couldn't ask for more polite wait staff, as they were very accommodating and friendly. It put me at ease knowing they genuinely wanted me to have a good time dining and took time to introduce the ingredients in each dish. I really wanted to try their signature Gomtang, since I was super excited we finally have an Okdongsik NY type of experience in Vancouver. But a table next to me ordered the Marinated Pork Rice Bowl and I was sold. For soft opening, they have a $4 btg deal for Makguli when you order a main dish (a 500ml btl/carafe goes for $15), so of course I had to order the homemade yuzu makguli, which I greatly enjoyed as an appy. The food came out extremely fast and even came with unlimited kimchi on the side. I like that they're getting people to ask for refills of kimchi to be sustainable and avoid food wastage from what they've noticed in their first couple weeks. Sitting at the bar helped, but if they notice your kimchi is done, they'll take initiative to ask if you'd like a refill. What was funny to me was that all my food arrived but had to ask for cutlery, since it was pretty busy haha. The pork in the bowl was kbbq thickness instead of thick cut pork, but the flavor was all there, had great char and the egg yolk gel helped to combine everything. After having the bowl, it was another easy decision to add the Goguma dessert and it was a great way to tie up the meal. It features a wonderfully cohesive combo of vanilla bean ice cream topped with crunchy candied korean sweet potato and korean grain powder.

-Cozy Venue, decent food- The menu is a focused 2 pager. The potato salad was good but perhaps not the most inspirating. Gontang was light and had several pieces of meat to compliment the rice. Decent. The seafood pancake felt like it could use more filling. But really crispy and the arugula on top was a nice touch. The food is not super filling for the price you pay for, but there are a lot of cafes close by to top off the night.

Always eager to try all Korean Restaurants, this one was the one i wouldn't go back anymore. Small with a big price tag. small cozy very simple dinning area. Tiny kitchen. The seating is rather small and very uncomfortable. about 4 -6inch gap between each table. For food, the Gom Tang, the only good thing is the soup, very yummy and refreshing. the noodle is boring and didn't rinse to get rid of the bad taste. the slice pork is quiet smelly. The seafood pan cake, the ingredients are very fresh, big thump up for that, but need other seafood like clam, also having tough time eating it because it wasn't cut by the chef. the service still need improvement, only one time water refilled before the payment. Finally, after seeing the food, 30 dollar tips and tax included for that Gom Tang, i wouldn't pay half for what i got.

Loved the decor, very modern. We let the Co-head Chef, Kyle, pick our items on the menu as this was our first time at a Korean Restaurant His choices were excellent! His tangy house salad was delicious. One of my favorites was the seafood pancake, Loved it! The gomtang soup was yummy! Super Friendly staff and the waitress explained each item on the menu. She was very welcoming and helpful, making it a very special experience.
