Came to the vancouver car show this year because I had a fairly good time since my last visit about 5 years ago. This year's autoshow was pretty disappointing to say the least. Surprisingly, many well known car manufacturers did not show up. Honda, Mazda, Hyundai, Kia, BMW, Mercedes, Fiat, Jeep, Porsche, Jaguar, Audi, to name a few, were no shows. Some of my favorite supercars like Maserati, Bugatti, and Alfa-Romeo were nowhere to be seen. Half of the place was taken by American manufacturers like Ford, GMC, Cadillac, and Lincoln. Compared to 5 years ago, there was so much more to see. Back then, there was an entire upper floor with expensive ultra luxury cars such as the Rolls Royce Phantom along with many vendors advertising cool car related stuff, and more. They used to have cool informational booths about (at the time) brand new technology about EV's and such. This year everything was pretty much squished into one floor in the main showroom where the cars are. Almost all of it were just cars on display with salespeople standing around taking questions, offering brochures, and test drives. A quarter of the place was a small test drive area where you can test drive a car in an enclosed area. Another quarter of the place were fenced off modified street racing cars. Outside the showroom floor, there were several vendors advertising their businesses. One vendor was surrounded by a small crowd wrapping a Tesla car in vinyl. How VERY exciting. As for the crowds, I came on a rainy Saturday early afternoon and the crowds were pretty big, with even bigger crowds coming early evening. You might have the wait a bit if you want to get inside the cars because most of the time they were very crowded with people around it. In the entire car show, only one thing caught my eye. It drew in a big crowd around it with line snaking around the area. The Tesla Cyber Truck. But it had about 30 people waiting in line just to get inside the driver's seat and see what it looks like, so I skipped that bit. As for the ticket prices, I was lucky enough to find a discount code online to reduce the tickets by half off to about 12 bucks. I would've been upset if i paid the full 24 bucks. As for getting to the festival, I found a parkade a few blocks down the road with a few parking spots left so parking wasn't a problem. Getting inside the Vancouver convention center where the event was held was very quick. Queues were small. You just walk in and scan your ticket's QR code on your phone that was bought on their website to the staff. The booths to buy your tickets in person had only a couple people in line. Overall, I give Vancouver Auto show in 2024 just 2 stars. I was expecting it would be two floors like my last visit. But there isn't enough interesting things to see compared to previous years and the absence of many well known car brands were disappointing. If 2025's Vancouver auto show is gonna be like 2024's, I will definitely skip it.
