We love Ask For Luigi! This cozy little spot has some of the best pasta we’ve ever had, every dish is packed with rich, authentic flavors. The warm, inviting vibe makes it perfect for a date night or a relaxed brunch with friends. Their brunch is a must-try, and if you’re coming for dinner, get there early because the lineups can get long. But trust us, it’s always worth the wait. Every bite is pure comfort. Can’t recommend it enough! 🍝✨

Came with my wife and two kids (four and 9 months) and it was our best meal in Vancouver by a mile…although the 80s playlist might have been even better.

The restaurant’s layout isn’t especially kid friendly, so we were genuinely moved by the warm welcome and efforts made to accommodate us - both in terms of finding a table and kid-friendly cuisine.

Despite that, we came here with the intention that this meal was “one for the adults” and the food lived up to expectations,  recommendations and higher end price tag. I had a truffle-mushroom based pasta special that was superb, but had food envy every time a new plate came out of the kitchen and could have had any of the mains.

Top food and service = top experience. Hope the place goes from strength to strength.

An absolutely amazing place for pasta and a chill date or dinner out with friends. Its not very big so if you want privacy while talking, this place may not be the best. But let’s talk about the food. Its absolutely AMAZING. The pastas we ordered were very nice. I don’t think they can go wrong with any pasta.

But lets talk about dessert. They have the BEST cake I’ve ever tried. It’s called the Olive Oil cake. MY absolute FAVORITE. Yes I had doubts from the name too, but this cake has this lovely olive oil flavour and has candied orange juice drizzled all over it, topped with ricotta cheese. I’m not even kidding, it’s the best cake I’ve ever had in my life.

Situated on an inconspicuous street corner of downtown Vancouver’s eastern fringe, Ask for Luigi is small sized restaurant with a big online reputation. We took a bit of care to wandering the dark streets before locating this unassuming entrance, but once we were in, we knew we were at the right spot.

Their busy kitchen serves fresh al dente pasta and own-brand Italian style drinks in a dark, moody night setting. The surrounding view felt like everything’s under a hazy red filter, accented by the candle-lights dotted across a busy dining area.  People here were on date nights, or out gossiping about their work colleagues or neighbour. It’s a cosy seating, so we heard all the conversations.

The menu was fairly simple and every dish had some mainstream appeal. While there was a seasonal menu for frequent goers to mix things up, we really couldn’t go wrong with anything.  Their meatballs (an appetiser) were popular, and we shared that along with a salad to balance out the pastas which had a heavier, cheesy finish. The Americano (a house aperitif) was their take on the Negroni, with a flavour perhaps discernible only to a cocktail snob.

Overall, assume you secure seats, you’ll bound to have a good time here. Just sit back, sip on your drink, and roll your eyes to all the weird and wacky things the other diners talk about.

Was a pre-valentine lunch date with my partner and Ask for Luigi more than delivered!
We ordered the mussels, meatballs and seafood pasta.
The mussels were amazing the sauce/ reduction was just full of flavour and has so much depth.
The meatballs too were dense and had such depth in seasoning and flavours.
The seafood pasta was good but for no fault of its own, it wasn’t our preference of the day when compared to the above two dishes.
Would recommend the first two dishes hands down any day.
Portion sizes are a little large and the restaurant is a little tight for space as a heads up, (if your sensitivity is heightened in tight spaces). But that’s all part of the vibe. Our hosts were super friendly and checked in on us regularly.  Would definitely go again. Definitely try to make your reservations before heading down.
