We've been long time patrons of Flamingo so we've kept an eye on their newer sister restaurant, Little Bird Dim Sum, for quite a while. But as it's farther away from us, it's taken this long to actually visit.

Located on W 4th, Little Bird has a vibe that meets the neighbourhood. The interior is bright but narrow, with mostly smaller tables. The menu has some of the same classic dim sum dishes as Flamingo but there are some items they don't offer while having some dishes we haven't seen at Flamingo.

Most dim sum dishes here are smaller than traditional Chinese restaurants but they are also a bit cheaper.

We ordered siu mai ($8.5) which had a nice plump filling, cilantro and shrimp dumplings ($8.5), and fun guo ($7) which was an interesting veggie dumpling in a green wrapper.

Sticky rice ($10) was a bit larger than the other dim sum dishes and turned out pretty good with the savory filling.

The crispy bean curd rolls ($8.5) had a delicately crisp exterior than encased the filling.

The pork spareribs ($8) had good flavour but I found some of the pieces to be on the tougher end.

Surprisingly, thebest dish we had on this visit was the spring rolls ($7.5). Nice crisp wrapper with a very meaty and juicy filling on the inside.

I was a bit sad that they didn't have some of the dishes that we really enjoyed at Flamingo like beef omasum but I think they tried to keep the menu more appealing to the neighbourhood. There's definitely a younger clientele that appears to go here.

If you like the dim sum here, I'd definitely suggest trying out Flamingo on Marine as they have many of the same dishes.

Delicious and high quality dim sum for reasonable prices! There’s really nothing not to like here. The soup dumplings were a highlight for me. All the sauces were super great too.

So good and well priced. Every dish was special. Scallop taro puff is insanely delicious. Finished off with the matcha sesame balls for dessert and I am still daydreaming about them...just way too good. Decent service, I appreciated that they brought many sauces for us to try and explained each of them and how best to enjoy them. Excellent vegetarian options too.

Late review (went there around June), the place surprised me cause I thought it would be small from outside, but it has long tables displayed inside the restaurant. The staff were friendly and polite, explaining how the menu works and super fast bringing the food. Prices are average, but the real wow was the food, especially the siu mai, shrimp dumpling, and fried wonton, tasty and big (really filled out). I would like to visit again to try the cake wish I couldn't cause I was super full.

Interesting dumpling place. The variety of dumplings is great. The service is quick. Just didn't like being rushed out of there in 45 mins from sitting down. I'd love to go back on a less busy night and try more dumplings.
