Our recent dining experience at Damas, a renowned Syrian restaurant in Montreal, was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment we stepped inside, we were transported to the Middle East through the restaurant’s stunning ambiance, rich aromas, and a symphony of flavors that left an unforgettable impression.

Food & Drinks

The quality of the food at Damas is simply exceptional. Each dish was a masterpiece, showcasing the perfect balance of spices, fresh ingredients, and authentic Syrian flavors. The taste and aromas were exquisite, and we found ourselves savoring every bite. It was impossible to pick a favorite dish as each one seemed to outshine the last.

The non-alcoholic beverages were equally delightful, crafted with care and offering unique flavor profiles that complemented the meal perfectly.

The service at Damas was equally impressive. Our waiter was approachable, welcoming, and genuinely kind, making us feel right at home. What stood out most was the attentiveness of the entire staff. They circled the tables frequently, ensuring our glasses of water were always refilled and our bread basket was constantly replenished. The hosts were also lovely and attentive, escorting us to our table with warmth and professionalism.

Room for Improvement

While our experience inside the restaurant was flawless, the surrounding area felt a bit off-putting. The streets outside were noticeably dirty, and we felt slightly unsafe as we arrived. It’s surprising that such a beautiful and well-run establishment is situated in this particular location, as it feels out of place. That said, once inside, all concerns melted away, and the restaurant provided a stunning escape.

Overall

Damas is a culinary gem that offers an authentic and unforgettable Syrian dining experience. The exceptional food, attentive service, and vibrant ambiance are unmatched. Despite the challenges with the surrounding area, we will undoubtedly be returning to this fantastic restaurant. Absolutely delicious from start to finish!

We came here for our one year anniversary! The experience is amazing!! Never had Syrian food before so we did the tasting menu. Unfortunately my husband had to drive so we didn’t do the cocktail pairing. We loved majority of dishes on the tasting menu. We would love to come back again when we visit Montreal next time!

This was our first time trying Syrian food. We got the tasting menu and the staff very graciously accommodated the dietary restrictions of my partner while making sure we had a great experience. There was so much food that we felt extremely full at the end of the evening. Take your time, and enjoy the delicious adventure!

The restaurant was beautiful. The service was incredible. And the food was absolutely amazing. Our server made a few recommendations and was very honest when he thought we might be ordering too much. He was spot on with the dishes he told us to try and with the number of plates we should get.

The cocktails were fantastic - very fresh and refreshing. The desserts were super unique—you just save some space for them!

Truly a gem of a dining experience, this is one of those rare finds that exemplifies true culinary excellence. The dishes are delicately crafted and the atmosphere beautifully curated. Being a family style Syrian restaurant, the menu can be intimidating at first with its selection, but the service is extremely helpful in making recommendations and suggestions based on preferences, number of people, etc. Depending on which items you choose, your server will decide which plates are served in which order; trust the process. A few of my recommendations for when you try Damas yourself: Beet Mutabbal, Grilled Kibbeh, Shish Taouk. Oh, and be sure to try some homemade baklava for dessert.
