Maybe it's because I had my prom and high school graduation at Crystal Fountain, but my feelings for this place were filled with teen angst and a general feeling of "meh". Revisiting it for a friend's wedding as a proper adult (lol), I'm now able to say that it really is a "gem" in Markham, and I'm not just talking about its crystal fountain. With banquet halls, you really need to fulfill a few criteria: food, space, and service. No, you're likely not going to have a beautiful, lush outdoor environment as it'll be in some commercial area but you will have plenty of parking! No, it might not be extraordinarily unique, but you will know what to expect and it'll come at a more affordable price. Food: This is not the bland chicken I remember from prom. Or maybe my school was cheap. My married friend really decided to treat us that night with the lobster tail and roast beef combo. The lobster tail was very fresh and had great texture. The beef was soft and tender and the veggies were surprisingly flavourful. The variety at the dessert table was abundant with 4 cakes, a fruit platter, and a variety of smaller pastries. Things were quite tasty, though predictably on the sweeter side. The one thing about the table was that the lady attending to the cakes had no idea what kinda cakes she was serving, which was a bit odd. Space: We were in one of the smaller halls so we didn't get the headlining "Crystal Fountain" but it was a lovely space nonetheless! If there were other weddings happening at the same time, we wouldn't have known. The lobby was perfect for mingling, photos with the main couple, and pre-dinner drinks while the banquet hall itself was absolutely beautiful. I guess I never had an appreciation for these things before. High ceilings, gold chiavari chairs, elegant decor, wooden dance floor. Gorgeous. Service: Overall, not a problem! But there is one small incident. In my mind, staff at banquet halls should be the background performers. If you notice them as little as possible, that's a good thing. After the groom popped champagne and sprayed it around ceremoniously, a lady went and started wiping the floor...WHILE things were still happening on stage with the bride and groom. The photographers had to hurriedly tell her to stop and do it later. We used to make fun of places like this. Oh haha the food is always so bad at things like these blah blah blah. But that's just our stupid teenage "too cool for school" attitude getting in the way of reality. Crystal Fountain has been consistently delivering no matter the occasion. With all the events I've been to, there have never been any showstopping incidents, no horrible service experiences, no cold and flavourless plates. If you're looking for a quality banquet hall uptown, your choice should be...crystal clear. ;D (86/100) - 2017

After visited 13 potential wedding venues, groomzilla and I have finally settled down with Crystal Fountain Banquet Hall :) We held our wedding back in August 2015 and had around 260 guests in the smaller of the 2 halls. We can even fit in a photobooth comfortably! One of the venue criteria was high ceiling. This one has an amazing 24 foot ceiling. Only 2 venues in Markham had that height and only 1 venue had the highest of 30 feet. But please note, most wedding backdrops can't go that high... usually 21-22 feet. So, Crystal Fountain was absolutely perfect for us. I also love the warm beige and romantic decor inside the venue. The chairs they use were champagne chiavari chairs. Seriously, you do not need any chair covers... they are SO beautiful the way they are! As for food, we did Chinese catering with Grand Catering. They are absolutely fantastic. 10-12 courses and very affordable. They are one of the preferred Chinese wedding caterers for Crystal Fountain. We also upgraded our open bar to serve premium liquor for a bit more $$. Totally worth it :) Bartenders and servers were fantastic keeping our guests happy ;) Oooo but we didn't go with the dessert buffet table from Crystal Fountain, so we saved a bit of $$. I had it before at another wedding hosted here and it was plentiful... but since we did Chinese catering and seriously by the 8th-10th course, I think people were stuffed lol. We went with gelato for dessert instead :D Lovely venue. I would highly recommend it. It is located on 14th Avenue (between Kennedy & Warden)... great Markham location. Private parking lot with lots of parking. George and his team were fantastic... on top of things, straight forward, no time wasted. Thank you so much for all your help! ----------------------------------------------------- Note to brides - it is okay if you don't have a wedding planner. Just be sure to have a wedding day coordinator! My wonderful coordinator, Helen, deals with the venue, all the vendors, schedule run-down, set ups and payments... it will make your special day smooth sailing and hassle-free! Company luncheon party being held at this elegant banquet hall. It was a buffet style lunch with servers going around carrying mocktails. Food was nicely cooked. The salmon and chicken weren't dry like you sometimes find in buffet places. After lunch was done, servers seemed hesitant to take away plates that weren't empty. Last but not least, they served the desserts in the foyer at the water fountain. By that i meant they put all the various desserts around the edge of the fountain for people to help themselves. Cool concept, but i would have liked to see the fountain turned on for full dramatic effect lol. How cool would that be?!

We have dealt with George from Crystal fountain. Our first meeting went smoothly and decided to pursue it further. When we came to our second meeting, and we wanted to know more details and prices if we add more items to our menu, he completely flipped on us. He discriminated against our race. quoting "(our race) are very difficult to deal with" and "I just kicked another customer out". Apparently we are not allowed to negotiate or even get a chance to talk to him. He ended the meeting immediately and walked away and claimed that he was the one that felt disrespected even after he fully discriminated against us. This was the most disgusting experience I have ever had with any sales person. Zero customer service, disrespectful and not willing to even talk. I would NOT recommend this to anyone!

We held our wedding at this venue in June 2015. We had about 300 guests. The food there was excellent. The portions were large in size compared to other venues I have attended in the past. We ordered mixed green salad, roast beef with potatoes and vegetables, penne a la vodka pasta and a dessert of our choice. Each table also had an assortment of buns which were very fresh as well. In addition to this, they provided us with a whole sweet table set up around the beautiful fountain filled with fruit and desserts for all of our guests to enjoy. We also received an antipasto buffet set up on the dance floor which included an abundance of appetizers. The team at Crystal Fountain were very organized and helpful when it came to helping us plan our wedding. We had a great time! Just a side note: Our relatives have also hosted several events such as bridal showers, weddings, baptisms, etc at this venue for over a decade now and we have never been disappointed.

We came here recently for a conference. The event venue is typically used for weddings and I can see why. The interior of the place looks recently renovated, and its beautiful with white and marble decorations everywhere. The other attendees were walking around taking photos of the place. As the name implies, it does have a crystal fountain. It's a little bit underwhelming, but it does make a great centerpiece. We had a buffet style continental breakfast and lunch, and food was served along the edges of the fountain. I read a comment on here about how the chairs were nice enough to not be decorated and I completely agree! Their tables and chairs required very little decoration as it's already really nice. The only thing that was a bit strange was that the main washrooms were upstairs, and they weren't particularly nice either. They do have washrooms on the main floor but they're quite small (two stalls each).

I am reminded that I haven't yet written a review for this place. We recently attended a wedding at this large venue, and I had been there years ago for a work Holiday party. It is a beautiful open space. Nice chairs that do not need to be covered and a lovely reception area. The wedding we were at had given options for the meal and generally our table had the steak and lobster. In addition, multiple Chinese courses were added. Fair to say there was an obscene amount of food. The food was generally good. We left as they were putting out an awesome looking dessert buffet, but I don't know who would have had room to eat any of it. On to service, which is where I took off the star. It was a wedding with lots of children. The dinner started late. Because of her allergy my kid could not eat most of the food at the reception. We explained the situation and asked if she could have a roll while they were seating for dinner and they absolutely would not. The head table had to be served first, no exception. Lesson learned, bring snacks that your kid will eat if they have allergies.

I held my wedding here this summer. My fiancé and I at the time had gone to take a look at the venue after calling in and we loved its inward appearance. Not only is it gorgeous but its staff and business associates make the experience that much more pleasing. Firstly, we loved how HONEST and friendly George was. From beginning to end, he was communicative and there for every inquiry we had. He didn't make any wish of ours an additive stress. Our guests at our wedding also commented about the friendly bartenders, which made a difference to their time well-spent. We loved the food, service and how the business owners were around to make sure everything went smoothly. We couldn't have asked for a better experience! Thank you George!

Had our son's wedding there this past weekend and we can't say enough good things about the place. The prime rib was excellent. Squash soup, was fantastic. But it's not about the food, it's the serve that impressed us the most. Dean, did an amazing job of making sure everything went according to our plan. The late night dessert bar by the water fall blew the guest away. Great job! I would highly recommend you consider this venue for weddings or conferences. You will not be disappointed!
