STAY FAR AWAY!! I would give them ZERO stars if I could to match with the ZERO service they gave us. We don't travel a lot so this was the first time we had to rent a car & we were unfamiliar with the full process. After our flight landed & we got our luggage & located the car rental area, it was around the time where they were opening. with a couple of people already in line ahead of us waiting. The lady that took us was an older Asian woman with short hair & glasses. She helped the man before us & gave him his keys with instructions on which parking space his car would be in & sent him off, only for him to come back 5 minutes later and tell her that he could not find the car that she gave him the keys for to which she came up with some sort of excuse that Budget shares cars with Avis & proceeded to push him off to the only other associate there. We wished her a good morning & started the process of getting our car while asking a couple of clarifying questions here & there. Not once were we rude to her in any way. Immediately off the bat, she wanted to upsell us on a higher model/bigger car, which we refused stating that a normal sedan will be fine, to which she asked if a Toyota Corolla will be OK, & we agreed. She also wanted to charge us a PER DAY fee of $14 to add a second driver to the car which we refused. Then she asked about adding insurance to the car. Being unfamiliar with the process, we asked if it was possible at all to somehow add or use our existing insurance from the U.S. to which she replied extremely condescendingly, "How should I know? that's something for you to figure out." & immediately following up with a threat saying "you can refuse insurance if you want but if anything happens, it's on you." So due to this new worry & driving on unfamiliar roads in a different country, we were forced to accept the basic insurance which added another $40 dollars PER DAY to our total which came out to be almost $600 for THREE DAYS. Throughout our conversation & transaction & on NUMEROUS occasions, she mentioned that the car we would be getting will be a Toyota Corolla. Once everything was done, she handed us the paperwork and car key and told us where to find the car, mentioning AGAIN that it would be a Corolla. We then noticed that the key she handed us was a Nissan key which is usually a more expensive car than a Corolla, so wanting to make sure we are not being up-charged, we brought this to her attention to which she said "I don't have a Toyota Corolla." Then why would you mention a Corolla 4-5 times if you didn't have one? Other than where to find our car & how to leave, she never gave us any other instructions like how we were supposed to manually check everything on the car ourselves & mark any dents, scratches, etc. We walked to the car and immediately noticed that it was damaged to hell & back. There was almost no surface on this car that was not scratched, dinged, dented, or chipped. We went back to her to let her know that the car was extremely damaged & this is where she became extremely rude & again never mentioned that we were supposed to mark it on the paper. All she told us was that the lady at the exit gate will check everything for us & write it off & then proceeded to scream at us to "leave! LEAVE!". We got in the car & drove up to the exit gate to greet the lady. We told her the information we were given & asked her to mark off the damage on the car to which she replied "That's not my job. You are supposed to do that yourselves." & we let her know that we were never given those instructions. We then got out of the car & started to take pictures & videos of every piece of damage while marking everything on the tiny piece of paper as best as we could. This process took about 10-15 minutes after which she came up to us again & said "This is unacceptable!" & told us we need to finish up & leave. We again let her know that we were not given clear instructions to check the car before driving off to which she again replied that "this is unacceptable." telling us to finish up. We have now returned to the U.S. & are anxiously waiting to see if they will try to push any of the damage on the car onto us. Safe to say we will NEVER give our business to this company again no matter where we travel to. If you are considering renting a car through them, because they're the cheapest option available, BEWARE & stay away. Use a different company even if they are more expensive. Save yourselves the headache.

do not rent from here. your car wont be ready, you will be told it will be ready in "10 minutes" and then have to wait one hour. then you will be told you will get free gas for your invconvenience. when you return withouth filling gas, you will get an email saying you didnt fill gas and then have to pay even more money. avoid avoid avoid. terrible management.

Wait in line for an hour to check in and pick up car only to be told one of the car cleaners called in sick and they are still cleaning cars and will be up to an hour wait to get the car. must be at least 20 people all in same boat and the dingbats behind the counter work at snail pace. never again!

I reached the airport kiosk at 9:45 AM. There was a big line at fast was helping other I talk to Coogan and ask him to help us. He decided to be grumpy and rude and did not even give us information kugan is a middle aged Indian guy not interested in his job Lots of people who would love this job therefore, I feel these kind of people should not be placed in customer service. I run a business myself, and this is the least I would expect from my employees

I had booked my car rental in Oct 2024 for my trip to start John's Newfoundland when I checked in on Jan 2025 with them to update my time when my flight info I checked they had wrong city when I told agent this he said ok fix this I claimed this is wrong was told no worries again was told this but when I checked email it was still wrong I had yo call back third time spoke agent he couldn't make it right asked to speak with manager explained again 4 times this was not my fault I should be getting same price 725 it's jumped to 560 more for me to get rental would but fix this told her she should be ashamed of not helping cx out ding use them they can't even spell city right without asking you four times to repeat this such a shame I have posted this to many places so people know don't use them

We recently rented a car for a week from Budget at Pearson Airport in Toronto. Thankfully, we got to our rental in good order, because the next day it would not start. A serviceman came over, jumped the battery, and said the car was now fine. It was - for about two hours. The following day, it wouldn't start again. Another serviceman came over, jumped the car again, said to drive it for about 40 minutes, and it would, once again, be fine. We drove it straight back to Budget at the airport and got another car, at which point we were told that the original car's battery was stone cold dead. Budget had rented us a car with a totally dead battery. As to the two servicemen, the first one had texted me on my cell phone when on his way to us. When I asked the second serviceman why, after an hour's wait, I hadn't heard from him at all, he said he'd called me several times. Well, he had - at my landline number in California. He said that was the number he was given. There was an instance while awaiting the second serviceman when I attempted to converse on the phone with a Budget employee whose English was unintelligible. I literally only understood perhaps three words of what she was saying. The serviceman showed up while I was still on the phone and saved me from her. During all of this back and forth, never once did we hear anything resembling an apology from anyone, even though we had basically lost two days of our vacation and dealt with a boatload of frustration. I submitted a feedback ticket to Budget, but have had no response from them. We have rented from Budget at Pearson (and other places) many times in the past with no problem whatsoever. Don't know if we will again, but if so, it won't be at Pearson

Seconding zero stars if at all possible. Didn't have the car I reserved and upcharged me for a different car. Customer service line was worthless. Never renting from Budget ever again. I would rather walk to my destination than deal with this company again.

0 stars .. if there was a negative value of stars, they would absolutely deserve it. !! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.. only and last time I would deal with this company again . Both their phone customer service and location staff do not know what they're talking about !!! Customer service confirmed I'm gonna be charged 200 dollars as a security deposit. When I went there I was shocked when they told me I have to pay 750 dollars as a deposit. Seriously ?!!! 750 dollars ONE DAY RENTAL !! It was not even a day !!!! And since I had no time to change my plans and I was in a hurry. I asked the guy on the counter when the hold is gonna be released and funds be available on my account, HE ASSURED ME THAT IT'S REFUNDABLE AND GONNA BE AVAILABLE 2-3 DAYS AFTER DROPPING THE VEHICLE OFF. After returning the vehicle I called to make a complaint that I was charged TRIPLE the amount I was supposed to pay as security deposit, after doing nothing about it .. Guess what !! the lady told me it's gonna be available AFTER 2 WEEKS !! Not 2-3 days as THEIR GUY ON THE COUNTER SAID. Not only did they waste my money and gave me false information but their supervisor I was directed to told me I have nothing to do about this you have to wait for 2 weeks to be refunded " as well !!!!! ABSOLUTE DISRESPECT !!!! UTTERLY UNPROFESSIONAL !! I WILL MAKE SURE EVERYBODY I KNOW KNOW ABOUT THIS HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Budget Rent a Car Pearson Airport, Toronto. I guess we were lucky looking at other reviews. The reception was friendly, accurate, and fast. The vehicle was exceptional.. a Dodge Charger that was spotless. Drop off was easy and the payment was exactly as quoted. Would go there again. P.S.: Rented from Budget through COSTCO.
