It saddens me to write this review because this was one of our favourite sushi spots in Pickering and one that we kept on our regular rotation during Covid to make sure we did our part to help them get through it. Unfortunately, over the past year, we have come here less and less because of "shrinkflation". I understand the price of everything has gone up and I can somewhat stomach that but when I'm paying more and getting less, I struggle to justify it. Sadly though, when we came here last night to get a takeaway, we were really disappointed that the quality of food has also taken a steep decline. The fish was not fresh and the rice had a musty smell and flavour to it. Even the spicy salmon rolls and california rolls left a lot to be desired. Overall, everything just lacked freshness and flavour. Needless to say, I did not enjoy my meal and I will likely be looking for a new sushi spot. The owners are such wonderful people though and they have fed us so well over the years that it just breaks my heart to see this decline. I hope it can get turned around.

Such wonderful owners here! We ordered from here on a Tuesday evening and ordered two party tray Bs. Since it was a weekday, it wasn't too busy and our order was ready in about 20-30mins. The owners were so nice and gave us lots of variety and even gave us extra pieces! We really enjoyed the different types of sushi like the seaweed salad rolls, eel rolls, surf clam sashimi, octopus sashimi and sushi. Everything was fresh and tasty. The restaurant probably has around 10-15 tables that can fit 4 people (more if the tables are combined). Prices are great and the customer service is excellent! Owners are super humble and were thankful for us supporting their business. So glad to have found a sushi spot in the area. We'll be back! Thank you Sakada Sushi for the great experience.

I decided to try out this place since I was craving sushi. I got the following: Spicy Salmon Roll (6pc) Dynamite Roll (6pc) Yam Tempura Roll (6pc) All for $13! definitely a great price point. The only drawback is that I was slightly disappointed to see that there wasn't any spicy mayo or spicy sauce included with the Spicy Salmon and that the food didn't have much flavour to it. While everything tasted fresh, I think it just lacked seasoning. I'm unsure if I will come back here again.

Was looking for a sushi spot in the Durham area that offered dine in and ended up here thanks to Yelp! It's a fairly small spot but the moment we walked in and started looking at the menu, the prices were too good to be true ($14 all you can eat lunch and first pop free) we had to do a double take. We're not from the area so this was a little weird for us. Nonetheless, I think for the price, this is a great spot to satisfy your sushi cravings. They're also not stingy when it comes to ordering teriyaki dishes, portions are better than many other places I've been to for sushi to be honest. Also, many people were coming in to order their chicken teriyaki deal to go so may have to go back and check that out! Overall, this is a decent place for sushi!

My cousin told me about this place so I figured I'd check it out for dinner. First impressions: this place looks family owned and operated. There were no specific signs saying that, just a feeling. There were lots of neighbourhood kids coming and going while I was there, ordering mostly takeout. They have a fairly big all-you-can-eat sushi menu, lunch specials, dinner specials, bento boxes, and more. Lots of choices! I chose a dinner bento box with teriyaki chicken and beef. It included miso soup, rice, salad, two spring rolls, salmon sashimi, and California rolls, a great value for only $14. These portions were large, larger than most Japanese restaurants I've been to. Everything tasted good. The meats were nicely seasoned and cooked. The California rolls, while not the prettiest, were larger than average and made with fresh ingredients. The sashima was also fresh With good service, good food, and cheap prices, it's easy to see why I saw so many kids coming in. There was one blemish on my visit. They started mopping the dining room floor while several diners were still there. They put out the appropriate warning signs but the smell of the chemicals was a bit strong. Bad timing. It was a turnoff. Come for good tasting cheap food and good service and you won't be disappointed.

We have lived here in Pickering for almost 30 years. Sakada is within walking distance from our home. Unfortunately with Covid19 we have not eaten in or ordered out much. Last Monday was my birthday and we had not eaten take out Japanese food for 1.5 years. Only home cooked. I thought we would try Sakada, being local and extremely convenient. If it was good, we could order more often. Unfortunately, although Sakada is inexpensive, the food is very bland tasting. The chicken teriyaki was tasteless. The Tonkatsu was dry and very tough. The Sushi rice on par with Grocery Store quality. Overall very disappointing. I would rather order from somewhere else and drive further away.

Hands down the best bang for your buck AYCE. Lunch AYCE is only $14 and dinner AYCE is $22, which is ridiculously cheap in the GTA. The wide selection and quality is worth much more than what it is priced at. Obviously you are not going to get Michelin quality sushi at such a low price - so don't come in expecting that. What you can expect are fresh, homemade dishes made with love from a small family owned and operated restaurant. The service is exceptional, they treat each and every customer with care and compassion. The food came out at a very fast rate even though the place was packed during lunch. I love a good, hard-working mom and pop shop. Would highly recommend this hidden gem to everyone, it is worth the drive from Scarborough or Markham. Update: 10/30/2020 I don't understand how people could give this place a 1 star review. If you didn't like their food then 2 stars is fair but what on earth were your expectations? This restaurant is priced ridiculously low for both their AYCE and a la carte menu. This is a nice mom&pop cheap eats gem, not a top-tier fine dining establishment at a fraction of the price lol.

Tiny sushi joint well worth the price! I came here starving at lunch time and opted for their AYCE (only $13pp). While the lunch selection is much smaller than their dinner option, we opted for this as you can get much more than a bento box's worth of food for an even cheaper price. Talk abut a deal!! However, we noticed the majority of their customers ordered takeaway rather than dining in with us for this amazing deal. HIGHLIGHTS: You'll definitely get a bang for your buck with the miso soup. Even though we ordered this item through the ayce menu, I found the portion was HUGE (came in an extra large bowl, about the size of two regular soups) and was not overly salty. I also quite enjoyed the california and rainbow rolls - these rolls came with huge pieces of avocado in them which is quite rare for must ayce places. The raw fish was quite fresh as well. Minus two stars because service was a bit slow (our tea was only refilled once at the end of our meal) and food quality wasn't the best albeit decent (deep fried items like tempura were wayyy too greasy). Overall, I'd definitely come here for takeaway if I'm craving sushi as these prices and quality are a lot better than the grocery store sushi next door, although I likely won't be coming back to dine in.

Ordered with Doordash for pickup on February 26th 2021. Very happy with the quality and quantity for the price. Only reason for four stars is because they didn't check the order before giving it to me and luckily I asked and they had shorted me an order of dynamite rolls, but which was fixed before I left. Glad I asked before leaving. They currently have space for at least 3 tables to have all you can eat. Posted order menu & AYCE dine in menu. Would recommend this restaurant.

Quite disappointed with my take out order tonight...I ordered the 28 pic sashimi combo asking for no white tuna and told them they could replace with anything else...somehow, they "forgot" the octopus too. (See photos). The sashimi was decent (being in a plaza in Pickering), but I felt like they totally missed out on the details...need to serve what you state in a menu, unless you sell out, then at which point, advise the customer. Our first two experience was great; take out then eat in for AYCE. Good service and decent food both times. Disappointed about this MISS!
