The Quick: 5 stars for offering fantastic lunch deals, good portion and decent taste. Could pay with credit card for lunch combos. This take out place is tucked in a plaza off 16th avenue. Limited parking but you'll be able to find one during lunch hours. They take credit cards but better deal with cash (10% off on orders over $35) Really meant for take out! There's no music or tv on, so absolute zero ambience. The restaurant seating area looks like covid rules lingered here, and storage has taken over some of the dining room. Great place to order for lunch deals. Where else can you get this price for a hot meal, decent portion that's leas than a Booster Juice Smoothie? Tried the manchurian fish lunch combo. I chose hot and sour soup over pop, one fresh veggie spring roll and 5 bog pieces of lightly battered fish, smothered in a lightly spiced Manchurian Sauce. Mild heat if any? Not bad for the price, but yes there are better Hakka places but not in this area.

The food was delicious, everything from wontons to both the chicken and meat dish. Both paired really well with the rice

The lunch specials are quite cheap. Chili chicken on fried rice: the chili chicken was lightly breaded and reasonably crispy. The breading was uneven which gave some variety to the texture, and some crispy bits detached and fell onto the rice below, flavouring and texturing it, which was nice. The sauce was tasty, with a hint of sweetness offsetting the umami and slight spiciness. The fried rice was veggie fried rice. It had very few veggies but was still quite tasty, with some smoky wok flavour. Also tried Manchurian Chicken Gravy and Chicken Hakka Chow Mein. The Manchurian Chicken was not crispy at all, but it had a decent umami punch and was slightly, pleasantly spicy. The chow mein smelled quite fragrant but tasted only so so. The soup was veggie hot & sour soup. On my first visit, it was very spicy & the taste and ingredients were OK. On my second it wasn't as spicy and tasted a bit better: it had a bit of sliced mushroom which was nice (so it's not just tofu); a little bit of bamboo would've made it even nicer. The lunch menu didn't mention this but lunch specials come with a small spring roll. They're alright (albeit not fresh).

I usually get my Hakka food in Scarborough because I didn't know any Hakka restaurants in Richmond Hill. I was so excited when Yelp search brought up Asian Garden. I ordered our usual - Manchurian Chicken and Hakka noodle - as take out. When we opened the boxes, I didn't smell the spices that the Hakka food from Scarborough had. A few bites in I concluded that the chicken was marinated in some spices but the cooking process didn't add much spices. The noodle had little or no spice, and it was completely not spicy/hot. The chilli sauce was watered down so it was insufficient make the whole box of noodle spicy. The 2 dishes were in my opinion at par with food court food.

Like any Hakka restaurant, place is not fancy. Service is slow, only a couple(probably the owner) serves the food and take orders. Food is really good. We enjoyed the hot and sour soup. Shrimp pakora taste good but not a lot of shrimp in it more like flour. Manchurian fish, chili chicken and chow mien were delicious too.

Really good food but unfortunately just really bad service. The lady looks grumpy most of the time. We have been sitting there for a while and there were only 1 person working taking phone orders and dealing with people who came in to do take out. We waited for a while and finally just go up saying we r ready to order and she just replied "no time". I'm pretty sure there is a better way to treat customers than that attitude.

In the quest to find a decent Hakka place near my place, I stumbled upon Asian Garden. Over the last year, I've been here a lot of times and I have to say, they will do in a pinch but I've had better. Better, but not local to me. I rate all Hakka on their Chilli Chicken and both their dry and gravy version is A-OK. Nothing too outstanding. The gravy version seems to lack flavour and their dry is too burnt and a little hard to eat (not as hard to eat as Hakka #1 - it was so hard and dry it actually scratch the inside of my mouth!) The hot and sour soup is pretty decent too. Overall a good meal deal as a combo for lunch - which they do a brisk amount of biz for takeout. The gent that runs the place is a little stand-off-ish. He is abrupt and tough to understand, however, he grows on you as you become a regular. The woman is nice but again, you need to become a regular for them to warm up to you. All these reviews and I'm starting to get hungry!!!

One of my go-to restaurants. I usually get takeout, but the food is always packed to the brim. I recommend the chili fish, general tao chicken, and pad thai. Great value and great taste (especially if you like spicy food)!

Oh man, was this restaurant incredible! Went in for lunch/dinner with my good friend since we were looking for a new place other than the usual spots we visit out of convenience and/or value for our money. While I am the person that will spend good money in search of excellent food, my friend just wants a lot of food for a good price. Upon checking other Yelpers' reviews, it certainly sounded and looked (by the photos) that this just might be the place that would meet both of our needs! Now, this place serves Hakka Chinese style food. If you are not familiar with this, I'm sorry that up to this point you have been so sheltered. Please familiarize yourself as soon as possible and thank me later. The place itself. Very clean, standard Chinese food restaurant and decor so very comfortable and non-intimidating. The staff were incredibly nice and pleasant to us, making sure that we knew the servings we ordered were not small!!! But, nonetheless, we pressed on and ordered a large Egg Drop Soup, both variations of the Chili Chicken, which also included a serving of steamed rice per order, a Chicken Fried Rice (you can easily determine the quality of a Chinese restaurant by the way they prepare fried rice) and the Hakka Special Noodles. The soup was great! Was not oily or over salted like you may have had elsewhere. The Chili Chicken was not a tongue killer but just perfect for anyone to enjoy who is looking for a good spicy dish. The Fried Rice, though? You know you score a damn good Fried Rice when there are large pieces of chicken in there and not tiny, diced up pieces of overcooked white meat of which no flavour could be ever returned to. While my bud finished all of his feast (unsurprisingly. Sorry, you know who you are!) I could not, and I was given a container to take this awesome food home to enjoy later on! I will also add that the staff were very good with checking on us and making sure that we had our water topped up and we were grateful and appreciative for this. Loved everything that I ate, no complaints from me whatsoever. My bud wanted to come back the next day, but they are not opened on Monday, haha! Definitely coming back again and again... And again, whether it be take-out or dine-in. So good that I over-tipped!
