Very patient service from the server guiding us to our seat, the one taking our order, and even the employees that cleared our tables. They had good attention to detail - noting when we were done to clear plates at the perfect time, noticing if our food was coming at a reasonable time, etc. Chicken satay skewers - not what we expected , but delicious! Wanted skewers but sad they only offer chicken. Usually worried that chicken would be too lean or dry, but this was a good meaty piece and wasn't dry. The sauce was tasty and I enjoyed the side shrimp crackers! Spring rolls - 3 rolls each cut in 2 (total 6 pieces). Very crunchy and the filling was delicious. Thai Tom yum seafood soup - menu had 3 chili peppers next to it so we knew it'd be spicy. And it is! A good spice level for Thai soup, but spicier than most Tom yum I've had from other restaurants. I enjoyed the spice. Recommend ordering some rice to go with it. Soup can serve around 6-8 bowls. In the soup included squid, baby corn, shrimp, mushroom, clam, mussel, tomatoes, cilantro, lemongrass. Very spacious seating, good for small or large groups. Clean and comfortable. Overall more down to earth / casual than neighbouring Thai restaurant in the area.

This is a "Thai" place located in Golden plaza off Hwy 7 and Bayview. It's bright purple sign makes it hard to miss, but despite it being advertised and decorated as Thai it's actually more of a "Thai inspired + China" based. The lunch specials were a bit on the underwhelming side they were very much "get what you pay for", it's lower priced but also much smaller There is actually nothing on the menu that has like lime leaves, basil etc. The rice served is also plain rice and I don't recall seeing coconut rice even being offered. It shouldn't matter but to note the workers all speak Mandarin so if you can also speak Mandarin you will have no issue ordering. Service was attentive, presentation was good but if your looking for authentic Thai food you may want to keep walking.

Newish Thai place at Chalmers Gate and Hwy 7 (same mall as Saigon Star). They have a lunch menu that starts at $12.99. Dishes range from your traditional Thai curries and pad thai to Taiwanese and Chinese dishes. So the menu is not fully Thai. Prices can be argued to be on the higher end for the type of dish being offered. What was ordered: Thai style crab rice Coconut chicken curry Curry with shrimp and egg Flavours of the curry were good, the shrimp in the curry were head on and a decent size. Unfortunately the rice was a bit lacklustre in flavour. I could see the surimi but no real crab. A bit disappointing. Portions were okay. Service was lovely, we were checked on a couple of times and asked if the flavours were okay. Would we return? Unsure. Really nothing to make them stand out.

This is more like a 2.5 rating for me..... 20% off discount until June 10th is being offered as part of their soft opening. I saw the restaurant sign being put up as coming soon last month and I was super excited for another Thai restaurant opening in the York region. I found out though this is really not an actual Thai restaurant but it was more of a Thai / Taiwanese style restaurant, so a Thai fusion type of restaurant. Therefore, a lot of their dishes are on the sweeter side. Since I never tried Thai / Taiwanese fusion, I decided to give it a try and also the 20% off discount made it really attractive. Sadly, whatever I ordered as supposedly "Thai dishes" were a disappointment but perhaps I needed to avoid the so called Thai dishes and go for the more Chinese style dishes such as their veggies, seafood, fried rice etc. What I ordered: Thai Milk Tea, Pad Thai that comes with Chicken and Thai Style Beef with Coconut Curry. Rice does not come with curry and is extra. The Thai Milk Tea was ok but definitely felt it could be stronger. The Pad Thai just didn't feel like the Pad Thai. It was definitely a fusion of some kind. Not sure if this is what a Thai Taiwanese Pad Thai should taste like but if that is the case, it wasn't great. It felt more like a white version of a Pad Thai, like ketchup was added to it. I noticed in other pics that it comes with a slice of lemon (no lime). One reviewer commented it would be great if it came with peanuts too and the dish this time did come with peanuts on a small dish but they were not crushed peanuts but whole peanuts slice in half?? also no lime nor lemon. The noodles also were overcooked and too soft. Honestly, it was bad but not the worse Pad Thai I had. The Thai Beef Curry was decent but it felt like it was nothing special and it tasted like those pre made curries sauce that you can purchase at any grocery store and make at home. The shrimp pancake was nicely fried and crunchy but falls apart when you bite it... It also took a while to come out and came last. There was no taste to the pancake. The sauce that came with it was ok but didn't add anything to the dish itself other than it offers a little bit of the sweet sauce. Not sure why so many people ordered it. I guess it's great for kids but this was definitely not worth the $16.99 price. The staff were very nice, friendly and courteous but they were clearly understaffed and overwhelmed once it got busy with the dine-in and takeout orderes. Also the waiter didn't asked me if I needed rice to go with the curry dish and no one came to check on us.. I was glad I made a reservations as it started to get busy and they had to let multiple walk ins know that there were no tables left and that the wait is now an hour. There are a few round tables and square rectangle tables and welll spaced out but the place is not very big. Staff speak English and Mandarin. Overall, I am in no hurry to go back but I may want to visit them again before the 20% discount ends and just order wisely next time and judge on whether they can do a better job on other dishes. The prices are also a little bit high.

I think the name is deceptive IMHO. It is not Thai food in the traditional sense. It's kind of a hybrid of Chinese and Thai but this not the type of Thai cuisine you would expect in Bangkok. Now onto the real review of this new place with a "deceptive Thai cuisine". The rice was a bit on the hard side and the coconut curry was a bit lacking in spice and taste.However, the MatsusakaPork w/shrimp sauce was excellent. In general I did find the portion size a bit on the light side. They do have a lot of menu items so I would say worth giving it a try. I certainly will and work my way through the menu. Stay tuned for updates.

Don't come here if you are looking for authentic Thai food. However, if you miss "Taiwanese-style Thai food" then this is as good, if not better than, 瓦城 Thai Town Cuisine. The owner greeted us warmly when we entered, and we were impressed with the presentation of the dishes as well as the atmosphere of the restaurant. There are two well-kept and clean private bathrooms. We ordered shrimp cake, seafood tofu pot, bamboo beef, and stir fried veggies, and it was a good amount for 3 people. The seasoning is on the lighter side, in line with Taiwanese taste. The beef was slow-cooked and soft, and the veggie with shrimp seasoning was delicious. Will definitely recommend to friends.
