I have been eyeing Roll Me Up for a while. I drop by Kaiyo Sushi for my monthly fix and have seen the store next door go from a shuttered bubble tea joint to finally being open for business. On Saturday, I took in a matinee flick at SilverCity in Richmond Hill. I had placed a takeout order at Kaiyo Sushi. I arrived early and had a craving for ice cream. My first thought was to hit McDonald's in this plaza to get a snack-sized McFlurry. I saw signs on all drive-thru menus that the eatery didn't have any ice cream. Ugh! Since I had time to kill, and I was now parked near both Kaiyo Sushi and Roll Me Up, I decided to get my ice cream fix in rolls. The place was relatively busy. There were folks sitting down and enjoying their desserts. A person was ahead of me, which allowed me to review the menu without feeling rushed. Both men behind the counter were so friendly and helpful. The first one asked if it was my first time at this store. It was. He took the time to explain everything to me, including the most popular rolled ice cream varieties. I liked the mango madness. I like mango. I like fruit. Let's do it! I paid with a credit card. You have the option to tip. This rolled ice cream experience is the second in my life. The first was at a store close to my workplace. I loved the ice cream there and knew that I'd enjoy this experience, too. It was fun seeing the other male staffer roll the ice cream by scraping a cold, metal surface, and assemble them in a cup. He asked me what toppings I wanted. My mango madness comes with two toppings. You can choose from boba, jelly, and fruit. If you want extra, it'll cost you more. I got mango cubes and lychee jelly toppings. A woman next to me was trying to figure out what she wanted to get. She decided to look at my rolled ice cream being assembled. The man handed me my rolled ice cream cup with napkins and a spoon. I thanked him for all his help, took a few photos of my dessert, and headed next door to Kaiyo Sushi to pick up my food. There are cute spots in this store to take photos of your dessert. The chairs are pink, the booth seating is a light caramel colour, with tables that were sturdy and clean. You can take a load off your feet and savour your frozen delights in this relaxed setting. I headed to my car and ate my dessert before driving home. The mango madness was so good. The ice cream wasn't overly sweet. I liked how fancy it felt to enjoy each roll. The lychee jelly and cubed mango were refreshing accompaniments to the mango ice cream. My ice cream came up to just over $9 after taxes. It's not the cheapest dessert, but it is worth it if you splurge now and again. I am happy that I dropped by. I'll be back to try more flavours, likely when I'm back for takeout next door. (179)

Felt bad for the staff as they were trying their best but were heavily understaffed. They didn't clean the anti-grills in between the different orders so all of our ice cream tasted like everything that was ordered before us. It took 20 mins to get our order completed, and after making 2 out of the 3, the employee went on break, so there was a pause before making the last one and then the employee walked away from it so it stayed on the anti-grill for a very long time. Overall not happy with the service or the end product.

Flavour was wrong after taking 20 minutes to get my order. They were severely understaffed and left orders on the anti grill for much too long, leaving ice cream that could've been served. All our ice creams tasted like a combination of what was ordered before and what we actually ordered. For example, my Oreo ice cream tasted solely like banana and mint. I felt bad for the staff as they were just doing they're job but I was heavily disappointed on the whole.
