Honestly, we came to Starchiva because the lineup for the One was too long. Haha. But this place actually had great dim sum and excellent service. It's pretty popular here also. The ambiance, decor and styling does come anywhere close to The One but the food quality was great. It's a great spot to get good dim sum.

We were here for after ceremony meal. We did book a room that requires minimum spend for $500. We ordered a package of Lobsters. The coconut chicken soup came first and fast. Then other dishes came along and slow down. The service was good and the servers were patient, but they seemed to forget things when we asked to chicken skin and separated them, and we would like to change the big plate to small ones, they forgot so. It's ok to make mistakes. My family came here couple years ago, and now here again, but the owner was changed. We like it still.

Located at the East Beaver creek by the York Blvd plaza this is at the elevated side. The place is quite large, lots of round seats and private rooms as well. We came here for dim sum with my in-laws. Reservation is under our last name which they didn't seem to understand as long as it was pronounced in completely Chinese pronunciation... annoying to be honest because I'm sure as restaurant staff you would know it in Chinese and English way. Anyways service is quite fast, lots of staff around you can ask to come and ask for help. You gotta write your order down on the sheet they give you, any additional you place the number on the "add" column, usual dim sum place. Love the matcha rice roll with crunchy shrimp which is extra $6.80. Dim sum is pretty good. This would be my 3rd time here for dim sum, came here a while ago in the winter for dinner. Would come again if my in-laws go, I usually go with them anyway.

Ambiance - great spot for family dinners, owner really maximized the space, they also offer private rooms for events, restaurant noise level can get really loud with servers cleaning the tables and preparing for next round of customers Service - seemed really unorganized, we didn't have a primary server, it was whoever was available walking around Food - Everything was super flavorful, the vermicelli crab pot (Maggie style) was my favorite, I recommend looking at the menu beforehand (some dishes require preorder)

Awful service and prices have skyrocketed. Come here if you want to be yelled at while eating dinner. Beware of mandatory 12% tip and credit card fees.

Celebrated my dad's bday here back in Dec. We ordered up a bunch of our usual dishes (the beef tenderloin here is unmatched; maybe only Fishman Lobster Clubhouse has a better one). Got ourselves a VIP card. I think the loyalty program is relatively new. Also saw a sign near the front entrance that said "DIM SUM COMING SOON"!!?? =O. Can't wait for that. There's also another poster near the entrance detailing the various perks of being VIP. Still my fam's #1 go-to restaurant for great quality, reasonably priced, canto food.

Very spacious restaurant with plenty of seating. I went with a large group and had our own private room which was very nice. The staff were all very attentive and provided great service from beginning to end. Our large group ordered a course meal ($588 total) and each dish was great. The group consensus is that the beef tenderloin with honey pepper and potato was the best dish. Parking was hard to find in this area, there will be probably be a handful of spots near the back of the building.

Came here for dimsum with family. Ambience - 5/5: very spacious and bright as soon as you go in. Washroom is in the back. Service - 5/5: they asked us if we had a reservation and we said no. Despite this, they sat at a table almost immediately. They also got us our tea/water quickly. The food came put in waves. They checked on us multiple times to make sure we were doing ok and to clear off the dishes Food - 4/5: we ordered: steamed rice roll with pork, bean curd sheet roll, red rice preserved sausage turnip cake, steamed BBQ pork bun, vegetarian bean curd sheet roll, steamed beef ball, sticky rice with chicken in lotus leaf. All the steamed items were piping hot. For the rice roll, they gave us warmed soy sauce. The turnip cake was just lukewarm for a "fried" item. And the sticky rice with chicken in lotus leaf wasn't sticking together very well. It fell apart quite quickly. It still had good flavour though. Overall, 4/5 - I would come back.

Arrived on a cold winter night and was looking for a place for dinner. Stepped into Starchiva in Richmond Hill. The interior is spacious but certain tables arrangement could be better. There were a few tables next to the fish tank. Parking in front of the restaurant or nearby is fairly limited. Tried a variety of dishes and the quality is there. It's definitely better than a few places that serve the same cuisine. They accept all forms of payment. There is no cash discount but there is a $5 surcharge for using credit card. Which is an FYI for those inviting friends or family that don't carry cash. Overall, a nice place.

Went here for a friend's birthday party. We got a private room for just one table which was super convenient! A huge plus for this. The set meals also come with a double boiled soup (not pictured) which was everyone's favourite. Food here is very delicious and had the perfect punch of flavour. Service was very prompt, our plates were frequently changed. Overall I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a great authentic chinese food, and especially if you need a private room.
