Hey everyone! We just finished playing as an opener for our first show at The Elmo! No word of a lie, not a single complaint! The sound tech team was super approachable and helpful, you get a full screen with your bands name on it, and the whole staff rocks! Unreal sound, atmosphere, and venue as a whole! Highly recommend. 5/5!

First time being there since the renovations. Stage viewable from everywhere! Drinks are average priced maybe a rad bit cheaper them other venues. Food wasn't being served when we went, but they do serve food. We went a couple doors down. Sound is great. Staff is wonderful, friendly and full of knowledge on the history of this venue. So many nostalgic stuff throughout the entire place, including the bathroom, which BTW it a Gender Neutral bathroom, meaning both men and women use the same space. Bathroom stalls are secure and door goes all the way from ceiling to floor. Each stall is decorated with copies of old music bills, showing what bands are playing many years ago. You could spend hours in there. Lots of neon lighting and LOTS of stairs.

My band, The Cosmik Muffin Experience, a Frank Zappa tribute, played the Starlight Room on February 14, 2025. Danielle Wekerle of the Elmo was very helpful in helping organize and promote, along with Jason Estephanos. The sound tech, Andre, was as professional and helpful as possible. Great sound! Awesome night. We look forward to doing it again!

The BEST and most historic concert venue in Toronto has been completely refurbished and puts on outstanding shows. Beautiful updates perfectly alongside its original charm. Sound quality, staff A++++. I’ll keep coming back here forever!

Thank you for all the guidance and support leading up to the party and being the defacto MC throughout the evening. Our crew is raving about the night, and we couldn’t be happier with the service and support we received from everyone. From your coat check, that big bearded security giant, the sound and lighting characters and your bar staff were all elite.

Ann and her team with McEwan Catering were amazing and even our harshest critics were left raving about the food.

Cleo and Aione were incredible. They played the exact mix for our crowd. It was loud but ideal, and the quality of that sound was so clean it felt full but never piercing.

I just hope I didn’t leave anyone out of my little appreciation rant. If I did, please include them because it would be unfair to criticize anyone who helped execute that evening.

I haven't been here in years, but I was so happy to see its personality is still top-notch. My partner Todd and I went to see Wang Chung perform. It was a personal, intimate concert with great sound - the band was awesome - a real blast from the past! Ah, memories... But I also have to mention the staff - particularly Michael (Mike). As someone who has had to adjust to being slightly disabled (I have to use a walker), it can obviously be a challenge. Mike was professional, but also very charming, while he took us to a comfortable spot by the stage for the show. He was very attentive, and even checked back on us a couple times before the band hit the stage - he was such a pleasure. He is truly an asset to the ElMo. He was definitely one of the highlights of the night for us. Thank you Mike! You're a Rockstar...we can't thank you enough.

An icon in the city We almost lost it recently Tough times for concerts compared to the glory days I saw Mike Myers here in early 90s, he was alone and people left him alone, that was nice

El mocambo? More like hell no nah bro. The "Elmo" (as we called it back in the days when you millennials were tickling Sesame Street merch) was the place to be back in the late 90s when you could catch the best in melodic-aggressive punk rock, step out for a dart and a veggie dog, head back in to skank a hole in the floor, and still be home in time to catch the tail end of the David Bronstein infomercial. And all that would set you back no more than a Laurier for cover charge plus a couple more toonies for every molson ultra you shoulder-tapped. They called us generation X because we covered our hands with chapstick so we could wipe off the x's the bouncers drew on our hands and then draw our own Os using the sharpie we had stashed in the interior pocket of our studded vests. Let's see you compete with that Mikey boy

Back in the year of our lord 1996 it was a badge of honour to be tossed out fo the El Mo was having one too many Labatt Blue's. But you'd have to be born with a silver spoon so far up your keister to afford that many drinks at this place now. Is it so much to ask that our classic music venues stay affordable? When I was there recently a rum and coke was north of what cover charge would have been to watch no Doubt live in 1998 - at least $17. Ever since Wekerel took over the joint it feels like it's more about the Banjamin's than it is about the Jagger's. Don't get me start on the bathrooms. Now I might be old school, but I like toilets with seats.

If you live and breathe in Toronto and are a fan of music, you must check out the El Mo at some point. (Side note: I know how tired it is to ask someone if they like music. Everyone likes music. I just didn't want to start with: go check out their website and if you like the set list, you can't pass on The El Mocambo!) My point is, the El Mo is a venue that's been around since the 50's. Everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Black Flag has made an appearance there; it's a true piece of T.O history. As such, if you live in this city or are visiting, it's a spot that has some great shows that is worth checking out. Other good points: the cover charge is consistently lower than other concert venues, and while it has gone through a reno, still has the intimate feel lacking from other bigger places.

I went to a concert at El Mocambo yesterday. I didn't even know there was such a venue on the Spadina strip. I don't know what I would dub this joint, I guess concert venue, although I don't know if they have other stuff throughout the week. First impression, not very good. The bouncer guy at the front was quite strict with my friend. She had a container of juice, which she packed from lunch (she came straight after work), and the guy made her dump it out! It actually was funny because he kept saying "if I open the bottle, will there be water". And confused, she kept saying "no, it's juice". This went on for a minute or so and finally she dumped it out.... So word of warning, do not bring outside food! The concert was on the 1st floor. I didn't realize that there were multiple floors, the place is bigger than it looks! There are some seats on both sides, as well as a very low couch near the AV booth. That's where I spent the majority of the night. The venue is very cozy and seeing a band play there is awesome. There's some very sensual about being a small venue and so close to the stage. Great couch, great music, pretty good venue!

Went to see Paul James Band. First time out to a bar in 2 years....nand was great..the service not so much....not once was our table cleaned! No covid sanitation at all...and now all 2bif us have Covid.We have been sick for about 9 days.We felt we needed to let u know as we have to withrhe Heakth Dept.
